However, I forgot to mention another big problem: So many of the new Pokemon being such unviable garbage that Game Freak had to take the unprecedented step of redeeming the lines by giving a whole bunch of them evolutions in Gen 4.
If you eliminate early-route filler trash, starters, version exclusives, trade evolutions, unviable garbage missing their evolutions, legendaries and Kanto-locked Pokemon, you barely have any good new Pokemon to choose between when composing your team. No wonder fanboys cried over Gen 5 ONLY letting you use new Pokemon for the main game - Gen 2 had conditioned them into thinking that you NEED to fill your team with Old Pokemon, because so few worthwhile newcomers are available.

- Absolutely terrible Pokemon distribution, with some retarded troll making a number of the coolest new Gen 2 Pokemon Kanto-only.
- Garbage difficulty- and level curve, ESPECIALLY once you get into Johto, but it's also bad prior to that (why is Pryce so fucking weak?).
- The evil team is just Team Rocket again, but a weakened version past its prime. Just WHY?
- Baby Pokemon are a stupid gimmick to create a bunch of unnecessary, low-effort, yet highly marketable Pokemon.
- Roaming Legendaries are fucking obnoxious and stupid
- Lance is a joke of a Champion, and he's not even a Dragon type trainer, but rather a 4X Weaknesses trainer. Professor Oak should have been the Gen 2 Champion, he could have rocked an improved version of his grandson's powerful and balanced team.
- I appreciate Silver being an Asshole Rival, but he's still weak, and fails to live up to Gary Motherfucking Oak.
- Johto is empty af
- doesn't actually affect me personally, but Competitive Gen 2 is just cancerous stall wars.
