Making a concerted effort this weekend to use my own noStrudel instance self-hosted on my server to interact on Nostr.
It's not that I dislike my Primal app on a wireless device, but I do want to learn the ins and outs of a self-hosted instance, and the older I get, the more I feel comfortable working on a larger device, when it comes to rattling off some thoughts anyway.

The IRS now plans on sharing confidential tax information with ICE and DHS to carry out deportations.
This practice is *not* unprecedented:
The systemic use of tax information and financial records is one of the practices majorly credited with enabling H*tler’s mass deportations of Jews beginning in 1938, enabling the 'industrialization' of the Holocaust.
If you think this is fine because you are legally in the US, remember that Trump is currently attempting to deport and revoke a student’s green card for organizing protests at Columbia University.
Last week, the administration deported at least two Venezuelan asylum seekers legally in the US to El Salvador’s terrorist detention center, known for torture and inmate deaths. Neither had a criminal record – the basis for their deportation were allegedly misidentified tattoos.
If you think this is fine because you are a US citizen, remember that last week, the Treasury announced that it would lower the currency reporting threshold in 30 counties along the Mexican border from $10,000 down to $200 in attempts to fight gang activity – affecting anyone living in the area.
Over the past weeks, we have additionally seen a drastic increase in using deportations to prosecute political speech. Four days ago, a French space researcher was denied entry to the US for messages critical of Trump, which the administration allegedly described as ‘terrorism’.
This is the *second* major increase in financial surveillance in the US in the last two weeks.
If history has taught us anything, it should be that fascism does not stop at the people you don’t like.

The fact that people can defend these actions for some absurd reasons terrifies the shit out of me.
At what point can this stop? Are we past that point already? I don't want to think so, but news like this doesn't give me hope.

My Father held cattle in some capacity for about 50 years thus far. We just sold the remainder of the Black Angus herd 2 years ago as his age has reached a point where we didn't want him to be out in sub-zero temps dealing with a heffer having calving complications, etc. It was always fantastic having a freezer full of our own beef / steaks / roast / etc., but I am def not built with the same consistent levels of patience he had to deal with them. Not the same having quiet pastures now though that's for sure!
after all the years and struggles with cattle we've had, I would assume anything is possible at this point.

I have to believe there is a small market I can build on for my woodworking projects.
In perusing some online markets I was in utter disbelief that people buy hand knitted hats FOR THEIR CHICKENS.
Now I understand all too well how prized the whole egg pricing situation has been in recent years but really? Fucking hats for chickens?!

Such a relief. The wood is beautiful, but I couldn't get clean transfers to be satisfied with my engraving attempts.

Old glass bottles from the 1950's that have miraculously survived to current day times from my Great Grandfathers Dairy business.
I still remember into the early 2000's where we were still operating the Dairy Farm until government forced us to shut down. Small farms can't make money anymore. If they are still out there they are most likely buried in debt, and creating negative cash flows annually.
I think this was most certainly the spear of what moved me into desiring a creative role, and looking into alternative paths for making my living, if an honest three generations of farmers, hundreds of thousands of dollars, and equipment and men worked to the bone couldn't do anything aside from painfully hemmorage their energy - there has to be a way.
With the shit weather hanging around the farm, I'm working on laser engraved wood pieces.
When I iron out some settings and get things finished and looking good (i.e. stained, protected, framed, etc.) I'll more than likely be looking to sell most items.
On the agenda for now are wooden bookmarks, and some serving trays. 🤘
