Incredible description of everything that is wrong with our financial system:

"At one point the EU pushed to redesign the entire donor and financial architecture for Palestine [...] so that Palestinian finances would remain under constant supervision and control. The message was clear: any political language, any position they did not like, and the money could be shut down instantly."

This is not a bug but a deliberate feature of our financial system, which eerily closely resembles that designed by Hjalmar Schacht – the former finance minister of Nazi Germany.

According to Schacht, money did not need real world backing but could be governed by state enforcement.

This allowed for total control of the economy: banks, corporations, and individuals who disobeyed the party line could simply have their money devalued without immediate consequences for the rest of society.

Political reputation became your credit score while all forms of exchange were controlled by the state, enabling the Nazis to destroy entire livelihoods by cutting dissidents off from the financial system completely.

We always talk about the need for financial reform, but never about the fact the financial system we live under today is one that has its origins in the literal antithesis to democracy – and it is still being used for these purposes today.

Sweetheart, as I stated above, there is no such thing as “white culture” and “black culture”, thats simply not how it works

There is going to be a time where we tell our kids that when we were young we didnt need an ID to use the Internet, and I find that very scary

In your replies you talk about white culture being derivative. Have you ever called out black people, who are notorious for talking about and promoting their culture, for being derivative?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Rednecks_and_White_Liberals

In your replies, you post a picture of an obese white person and claim it is white culture. Have you ever replied to a post about black culture with an image of an obese black person eating fried chicken, in order to ridicule claims about their alleged culture?

Ah yes, the fundamental misunderstanding here seems to be that there is no such thing as “white culture” and “black culture” as that is not how culture works, but I’m glad we agree that fastfood is one of the few pinnacles of the USA! 🇺🇸🦅

Oh no Im really scared :( ping

me again re this when mommy has let you out of the basement

Oh i like this game. So for example, air conditioning and refrigeration were first invented in ancient persia, optical glasses in modern day syria iirc, and vaccination in china. Apart from that, the majority of things in ur lil list there seem to be from the UK/France/Germany/Italy, with some exceptions in the US, like the phone and the airplane.

You know you can google these things before posting on social media.

Mh no thats more like saying you are free to use any road u like but then dont really get to bitch about the people that invented said road hope that makes sense

It would take forever to fully get my take across and it would be easier speaking, as like I said there is complexity at hand, but I will try to keep it brief.

What I mostly see is a complete and utter failure in people’s ability to take into account the historical process and the evolution of culture as a whole. The process of European colonialism, the process of technological advancement and the advantage the West had, the ten thousand plus years of dominance and hierarchical thinking, which is pretty much embedded within us neurologically as primates, and the divisive nature of ideology as a construct, regardless of whether it is good or bad. Examples of this are shown in the images.

Most people are religiously tied and bonded to their beliefs, their patriotism, and most importantly their sense of belonging to collective groups, race for example. Most resort to ad hominem arguments or flawed logical fallacies because they do not understand how interconnected everything really is.

It is easy for someone like Zach here, for example, to say, "How about we all just worry about our own countries." But what about the fact that your country is quite literally the world’s reserve currency and dictates pretty much everything? "Illegal immigrants need to go home." What about getting the USA out of the Middle East and proxy wars, and out of supporting Israel while bombing, supporting, and destabilizing these countries? If you are an immigrant, are you just meant to sit there and die?

Most true racists believe in superiority and the inferior nature of their counterparts. They have most likely read a few studies about Black people committing more gun violence, but that does not account for the full scope of the problem. You grow up as a Black male in America, in the Bronx for example, and you think you are becoming a lawyer? Please. Culture and history have played out the way they have and have engraved themselves on our psyches. There is nothing we can do to change the past, but we must educate for the present. These third world countries are buried in Chinese & American loans and corrupted to the core, and the political figures are just as corrupt as the ones we see in the West.

I do not have all the answers, but what I do know is that ignorance is not the answer.

In my defense, I think all countries suck 🤘

Love the way you are so proud of traveling constantly globally while arguing that people who have a less favorable passport shouldnt be allowed to do the same 🥰

First of all, immigrants in the US probably work harder than you and your family and sexual violence continues to be predominantly committed by white males in Europe.

Second of all, much of your own culture actually dates back to "Arabs," without whom you would, for example, not have a toilet, which was invented in Pakistan/Ancient Mesopotamia (modern day Iraq), not be able to read and write, which was invented in Ancient Mesopotamia (modern day Iraq), and not be able to do math, with the numbers we use to this day invented in Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia (modern day Iraq).

While this is a lot of fun, I suggest you read a book my guy! ✌️

ICE seems to be sending immigrants to Guantanamo shout out to everyone who voted for this ✌️

tfw you get a much needed email in the middle of the night reminding you of who tf you are

Banned from the exchange again 🖕

A lot of people seem to forget that the cypherpunks did not just fight the Government with code.

Instead, they fought them with all tools that were available to them – from online strikes to protests to literally suing the Government.

If you care about your privacy, take 10 minutes to leave a comment on the Treasury's new considerations that would implement digital identities in non-custodial services.

The Treasury has to consider *all* comments it receives, so the more comments it gets, the longer the process of implementing this nonsense will take.

You are not too cool to tell the Government where to stick it, anon👇

Google has changed its Play Store Policy in response to our reporting. Here's why this is a big deal for developers.

Since our story yesterday, several people reached out to me about Google Play Store delisting non-custodial wallets well before the policy in question came into effect in July, asking for local licenses under what was previously known as their Blockchain-based Content Policy.

One of these wallets was Electrum Wallet, who thankfully documented their ordeal with the Google Play Store publicly.

It seems that as soon as a local jurisdiction codified licensing requirements for software wallets, Google wanted to see that the developers obtained said license, making no distinction between custodial and non-custodial wallets.

If no license was provided, it appears that Google auto-banned flagged wallets for policy violations, leaving it up to the developers to prove that they did not need a license under local laws.

In the case of Electrum Wallet, getting their wallet back into the Play Store took over 100 days. That's 100 days in which no new installs were possible, while existing users weren't able to pull updates. A big deal, seeing how some updates push critical security fixes.

By fixing their newest policy to now specifically exempt non-custodial wallets, non-custodial wallet developers will no longer have to prove that they don't need a license if they are flagged, but can simply point to the fact that they are a non-custodial application, referencing Google's own policy.

Never thought I'd say this, but thank you Google for fixing this, and thanks to everyone who helped raise hell to make it happen. Let this be your reminder that protesting injustices actually works, and that we should be doing a lot more of it.

As a side note, I am open for apologies and do not hold grudges for dumb takes (@`Jameson Lopp`)

one day i will figure out how tagging on this protocol works

insane. the Internet Archive is the single most important resource for journalists. it stops people from deleting things you may be investigating, and doesn't let anyone alter content after the fact to blame their faults on others (hello Elliptic).

X is already blocking the Internet Archive. Now Reddit is following suit. Internet is over my guys.

I am very, very rarely impressed by what Gov officials have to say.

Hester Pierce’s remarks on financial privacy are one of few refreshing exceptions (and probably the first time Ive seen someone working in Government coherently quote the cypherpunks without sounding like a boomer astroturf)
