It's pretty natural. They do want to hunt for criminals on a case by case basis using tools available. I'd rather they do that than say 'fuck it let's just digital ID everyone and CBDC everyone and then we don't have to really do anything because everyone is a criminal until proven otherwise'.
The UN and Egmont Group, who also joined the call, are the main proponents for the implementation of Digital IDs for AML/CFT so that's gonna happen anyway
