When I was fresh out of school the big scary environmental disaster was the disappearing ozone layer and acid rain. We were all really afraid. Before that it was global cooling. Now it's global warming.

All the scary things people have been predicting for 50 years haven't come true, they're all based on flawed models of a system so complex nobody can understand it.

Finally if anyone actually gave a shit about carbon footprints we would be using nuclear energy, instead we plug electric vehicles into coal powered grids.

Best option* for running your own bitcoin full node:

* Used bare-bones used ThinkPad w/8GB RAM

* Replace ssd w/cheap 2TB nvme

* Run it as some flavor of linux

For $220 you have a solid enough machine WITH a screen, a keyboard, and -- super-important -- a BATTERY (y'all underestimate what a power outage can do to your Raspi).

Has enough storage onboard to not have to prune blocks. And enough RAM(?) to run more intense services like a Lightning node.
