It’s true that “addresses holding >= 1 BTC” ≠ “people holding >= 1 BTC”, but it goes both ways. Just as one person could have 10 different addresses with >= 1 BTC, there could be a lot of people with >= 1 BTC sitting in exchange wallets. Yeah, I know, in which case they don’t *really* have >=1 BTC, but I think it’s valid enough for stats. Anyway, absent any better data, I think it’s reasonable to assume that the two more or less balance each other out — number of addresses holding >= 1 BTC is a reasonable approximation. In the grand scheme of things, it’s probably a lot closer to 1M than 10M and probably closer to 1M than 100K, and given that there’s 8B people in the world and only 21M BTC to be had, I think that’s accurate enough.
Trying to adjust to life without Twitter. I feel woefully ill-informed. Nostr is of course technically good, but simply due to numbers, I can’t yet rely on it as my primary source of information. Soooooooooo early.
Hey nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s — assuming it’ll be a long time before the likes of BBC News comes to Nostr, has anyone already taken it upon themselves to autoshare to Nostr everything that someone like BBC News tweets? I know you’re not in charge of all things Nostr, but I figure you’d know better than most.
So, uh, Nostr suddenly isn’t so quiet… 😂
😂😂😂 what a 🤡 is Elon Musk. Brilliant way to end Twitter and get everyone over to Nostr…
So who do you turn to for confirmation when Twitter seems to be down? Nostr, I guess. That was “confirmation”, not “affirmation” — honest.
