Prohibited because it makes racist white people so "uncomfortable" that at times they have to cover themselves in white sheets.

It's no surprise that Jacob Oliva the architect of the Arkansas ban on AP African American Studies is a Floridian henchmen of DeSaster AND is under criminal investigation.

"Oliva is also under investigation by federal authorities over his role in a bid-rigging scheme that “attempt[ed] to steer a multimillion-dollar contract to a politically connected company with ties to DeSantis’ former education commissioner, Richard Corcoran.”

More from Doctorow:

This is how you get the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire equating publicly produced, free insulin with forcing enslaved Black people to pick cotton in the fields:

For right populists, the property rights of pharma giants are human rights, so anything that interferes with those rights is equivalent to any other human rights violation.

This is not only wrong, but it's also a huge vulnerability in the right populist mindset.

From Cory Doctorow (edited)

"Populism" isn't intrinsically left or right. There's a simple litmus test : "ask what's more important: human rights, or property rights. If they say 'property rights are human rights,' they're on the right."

Both the left and the right can be populist, but the populist left seeks to improve peoples' lives, no matter what that takes, the populist right is only willing to make the world better when that doesn't interfere with the interests of property owners.

Because CONservatives like wasting money -- just look at their 12mpg pickup trucks.

GM uses electric cars to union bust.

One year after closing its Lordstown, OH manufacturing plant, GM announced that it was opening a new electric battery plant next door from the old plant.

But instead of owning the plant themselves, GM teamed up with LG to form another company, called Ultium Cells. Because battery workers were employed by Ultium, rather than GM, they didn’t have to honor the union agreement with GM, and UAW had to start organizing from scratch.

Read the bottom of the story and see how he made the library intern cry for setting up a Pride display and that kid afraid to go back to the library.

But he's just MAGA, so all is fine.
