Definitely a minority of companies have outright banned it. They typically tend to be either authoritarian states or countries with unstable financial and/or political systems, as I understand it

As with most countries/jurisdictions who try to prevent use of Bitcoin, they claim it’s due to volatility (consumer protection) or use in criminal activity (money laundering/fraud/drugs/etc).

Truth is that the volatility is a short term phenomenon, and cash is much more widely used (and effective) with regard to financing crime.

Bitcoins offers its users a new kind of control and autonomy, not just over their financial technology but a choice to not use their own government’s currency. And governments hate that. It’s “new and scary” to those who have benefitted from the existing system. Easiest way to prevent your power from being upset is to ban the competition.

We all stumble with our words. I’m intimately familiar with the taste of my own foot. 😉

I will say it does sound like you’re saying the person you were previously was unacceptable and this version of you is more acceptable to me. Tone and context are also really important. So you probably know better if it was said in a mean way. Sometimes we can think we’re saying a compliment but we weren’t thoughtful enough in our wording.

Even if someone is offended in what you consider a compliment and you think they’re being overly sensitive. It can be helpful to ask what it brought up for them. Better to seek understanding in relationships than trying to be right.

Life tip: just speak your mind, don’t worry about someone else’s opinions.

Maybe ask in what regard they mean you’ve grown into the person they knew you could be. You may be thinking of two different metrics.
