Best to buy dollars and sell bitcoin peer to peer.
Next best is with a miner, though larger enterprises tend to work in scale that is impractical for working with individuals due to operational cost and risk.
Exchanges are filling a void, and charging fees for that while providing tools for order books, market making, price discovery, and past comparative value tracking. They are also incentivized to provide access to other products and services to make trade fees on.
This is similar to the difference between buying from a farmer vs the local supermarlet.
Does any nostr client support petnames from NIP-02?

I wonder if people would be interested in a sovereign way to do this
Most Bitcoiners, including maximalists, still use the dollar as their unit of account and will not escape the clutches of fiat mines.
Very slow way to generate a vanity address. Better alternatives exist
Nostr is horrendous for privacy.
Its much much worse than big tech, but levels the playing field of who has access to the data.
Want to see all Jack Dorsey's post? Just enter his pubkey.
Want to see whos talking to who and social relationship graphs? You can do that. Just suck data from relays and feed to Palantir.
Nostr is a wet dream for data analytics.
usually related to that and push notification support. in the case of breez, its not only a lightning wallet, but also a point of sale, podcast player, and can use for buying stuff in the app
interesting. im gonna try this to see if that also addresses whiny notices
The world and all the things in it need some TLC
overkill in this instance. I agree 32 bits is likely too short, unless always paired with a pubkey.
UUIDs are 128 bit (16 byte). Thats on par with the uniqueness afforded by a 12 word seed phrase.
Wish you a good day

If you are going to use geohash for EVENTS, please consider accuracy based on length when precision is relevant
A typical 6 character geohash string is only accurate to about 600 meters. This is often not precise enough for most events as that can cover several city blocks.
When given the option, try for 8 (+/- 19 meter) or 9 (< 3 meter) character length
Lower accuracy is more suited to general area if privacy is a factor without

I cant find your git repo to look into fixing this and some other minor stuff
Anyone know why Flockstr is generating 4 byte values for the UUID instead of a proper UUID per RFC 4122?
Is it because its associated with pubkey author of event when referenced in calendar and thus collisions on that should be rare?
For automated, something will exhaust 4 billion records eventually.
Related... I wish clients would add a "client", or better yet a "user-agent" tag to hunt these down.

My Start9 vm has been synching for over a week and is only 33% the way there. Looking at this as a failure. Parking all Start9 developments until I get some hardware to build out.
