nostr:npub1v94nty993vera3xdulnzhtj0aht0afqpagfqfeakwle5xdt6e4jqe62eps OOH I didn't realise I was travelling with Jasper or his lookalike. I'm glad now that he didn't come to any harm on the journey.
Goalie's magic trick before his great save. And the world wonders, why did he do that? Is he advertising his skills for children's parties, or what?
Elon Musk v Mark Zuckerberg: their cage fight to be streamed on X.
I am guessing it will be no more than a rehearsed sideshow.
nostr:npub1c9m8t6qw5t2cqh7wwuaxpuc2kxm7jnz9yh2pzqn7zgh5dshnv4zs7g339p Did you ever discover the reason? I didn't.
nostr:npub1ht0rq2ej339cv0nz4m260llgdq8mz05fwpz4zjc8s7lmtduzq8hq60dyc3 have you a Salvation Army distribution centre nearby? They should take it. They pat test and resell small electrical and IT items, I know stuff like that sells
nostr:npub1cfmslej878m3n2jhkerqcnjupj604kqn82c349kr3ktgzn8e45jqegg8sa I would love to donate it to charity, but it's beyond the capability of anyone who is not backed by an experienced team of technical staff who can restore any useful pieces and also guarantee to wipe any personal data from it.
nostr:npub1y3h9zwcx03upnxe2zpnj4n7gc3h7m0x6psmh6w0qnk68dxkuyglsxkfkts We use Ocado online and get a delivery once a week, and of course others offer the same service, such as Asda, Morrisons and Tesco. We don't get everything in the delivery but I think it's possible to get nearly all you need.
2. To trash a room full of viable and expensive equipment would break my heart, and nobody else offers cash for recycling, even if they do reuse it.
There is a local firm who would recycle it, I think, but there is too much to fit in our car, and hiring a van would cost another ยฃ60.
Added to which, we won't even have the car next week as it's in for repair. Meanwhile the livingroom is unusable due to the amount of boxes there.
To say this is all keeping me awake at night is an understatement.
As you may know, I have been assembling a lot of computer stuff to pass on or recycle. I had contacted a company called #Money4YourTech and sent them full details assuring them there was plenty for them to make a profit. After their initial reply to my email they went silent, would not reply to any emails nor answer phone calls!! Totally unprofessional.
So now I am back to square one, having spent over ยฃ60 already on packaging and boxes, and the only alternatives are to give it all away.

nostr:npub1ht0rq2ej339cv0nz4m260llgdq8mz05fwpz4zjc8s7lmtduzq8hq60dyc3 Wise ! One can never have too many backups!
A lot of newer drives use glass platters rather than Aluminium ones so dropping them will be fatal.
Glad the Laptop HDD is holding up .
nostr:npub1v78rrnac3vk7sf2gvrzn7redtkd63rqmcr7l0fm65kpq8ljsnv8qyutx9y Yeah, too right. It dropped from a shelf about three feet above a carpeted floor, and it was in its case. Even so - doom. The tick tick of death!!

nostr:npub1gd7nk9u287uufqhye9s2q97w0q3786cwvcgt2uj869tc0mfds6eqxdazt6 Thanyou! Sips my coffee, slips into evening mode, turns down the lights and wonders, which game shall I play this evening?
nostr:npub1ht0rq2ej339cv0nz4m260llgdq8mz05fwpz4zjc8s7lmtduzq8hq60dyc3 Glad you've learned (albeit painfully) the value of having multiple backups - I nag people all the time but they never seem to realise it unless the worst happens.
A painful lesson to learn, but one worth learning!
nostr:npub1g5gnvvvux44mktj92dqpux3x7hguqh9g5w9ux77857lyr7mq8uwqn2hpkm The annoyance increased because I had made some encrypted backups of my laptop drives to another disc, BUT, when I used the same program to unencrypt them they read as unavailable or unreadable. So I was doubly bereft.

World's still on fire. Glad that your back-ups are going well.
nostr:npub1dvrptcmq7hkc390hngzhwr407qkghcx63gk95v5gh6ycw30mttqqd4emf4 Here, it pouring with rain, cold, and there's a storm warning (which means they are exaggerating the possibilities again). It's been the rainiest summer for years.

nostr:npub1ht0rq2ej339cv0nz4m260llgdq8mz05fwpz4zjc8s7lmtduzq8hq60dyc3 install a good anti virus. I've always recommended comodo antivirus, ignore the initial nag about getting the full package at a price, it is the full package. If you want more security get comodo internet security. If you haven't heard of them before and feel a little uneasy about the recommendation, do some research and comparisons, they come pretty high up in the league tables. I've used them for nearly 20 years.
nostr:npub1zdey545rjztuzmw3x6n8r9uqu5xuddvcjlgku5jgy66tnvr5sr3qqrgs2z I am using Avast, which I loathe, but almost everything else I've tried will insist on uninstalling all its rivals, including my ASC, Advance System Care program, and I can't live without that. (I just ran Malwarebytes and almost everything it brought up was an ASC program file! Jealous much??)
Okay I'm back, for a while. What happened while I was away?
I've done one backup drive, but I have another to do - nowadays I always have a duplicate backup drive because I learned the hard way, I dropped my drive and lost everything, and had no alternative. Not even the professionals could recover it for me. (sobs.)
