Rich, fascinating stories, board game designs, and random thoughts, graciously provided by David Dawkins. #Writer #Writing #BoardGames #Fantasy #SciFi #Authodon

Just working away today, cutting out board games and using the focussed brain time to try and jump to a solution for where I've stuck my character in my latest book.

If I do get some table time it's more likely to be used to play test one of my own games, or to learn a game so I can teach it at my next games meet up. The idea of setting up a game just to play it by myself feels wrong, somehow. If I have time to myself, I'd rather read a book. There are sooo many books!

Your characters must use an alien bathroom. There are three options.

This is commonly known as a Book Hangover: the feeling when a reader finishes a book—usually fiction—and they can't stop thinking about the fictional world that has run out of pages.

nostr:npub10ywglqvm7mntl4fnrp7z4jfhxf77dwa789f9vt64nujxhwupanwqd29zm7 had my gaming group meet up over the weekend, so finally got to play some quality games with real, live , in-the-same-room people! Someone brought the deluxified version of Castles of Burgundy, which was very nice, and still an excellent game. Tried Point City, a cousin to Point Salad, but with a kind of Splendor twist. Good game. First Class is my favourite train game, and enjoyed that, and finished with Labyrinth, which is a game of sliding tiles and collecting treasure.

This chapter has been kicking my butt for about a month, now. Then yesterday I realised the MC needed someone to talk to, otherwise it's just a big exposition dump. The problem being, they are by themselves, but then, yes! There is another character I can put in there with them!

Which now involves a massive rewrite of the last three chapters.

Books are fun.
