Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia is the world's largest salt flat, which transforms into 'the world's largest mirror' (used for calibrating the altimeters of Earth observation satellites) during the rainy season, when a thin layer of water covers the surface. This creates a breathtaking natural phenomenon where the sky and clouds are perfectly reflected, offering surreal and stunning views.

This morning I am enjoying macro photography of moths. Derpy little guys.

You can't do anything these days. Bloody woke brigade.

Wouldn't it be amazing if just *once* the news was about all of our lives not getting materially worse whilst also reading about a handful of individuals breaking all previous personal wealth records. Interestingly the richest person who ever lived was Mansa Musa, the 14th-century ruler of the Mali Empire, whose wealth surpassed that of today's billionaires. Primarily from gold resources.
He threw his gold wealth around so much when on a pilgrimage, he totally wrecked a number of economies. Due to the subsequent depreciation of gold, it's estimated his pilgrimage led to over a billion dollars of economic losses across the Middle East.....
"The king reportedly left Mali with a caravan of 60,000 men.
He took his entire royal court and officials, soldiers, griots (entertainers), merchants, camel drivers and 12,000 slaves, as well as a long train of goats and sheep for food.
To a person, all the way down to the slaves, they were clad in gold brocade and finest Persian silk. A hundred camels were in tow, each camel carrying hundreds of pounds of pure gold."
Mali is now one of the poorest nations on the planet, heavily reliant on foreign aid, with food insecurity and high numbers below the poverty line including nearly 20% living in 'extreme poverty'.
Men that steal the natural resources of the planet on an obscene scale for personal wealth are not your friends. And they are not doing it for your benefit.
It is EXTREMELY funny to me, but also horrifying and a definite sign of the times, that BBC News reporting on the choosing of the next Papal Holy Father are saying that there is not yet 'a clear winner'. Like it's fucking Vaticans Got Talent.
Happy birthday to the incomparable Ray Manzarek who would have been 76 today. One of the greatest keyboard players of all time and apparently owner of the worlds most confusing shirt.
I remember when airlines didn't assassinate people
I am in my mid-40s, British, went to a religious 6th form and briefly when homeless was taken in and lived in an actual vicarage. And yet..... I have NEVER heard of Michaelmas. Like Christmas is about Christ, today is apparently about the angel Michael who chucked Lucifer out of heaven where he landed on a blackberry bush and got cross so he pissed on it. Which is why today is the last day you're supposed to pick blackberries (BECAUSE FROM TOMORROW THEY WILL BE DRIPPING IN URINE).
Today it is apparently tradition to eat goose (something about someone being raised from the dead by a goose or something) but as I am vegan I shall instead today be behaving like a silly goose. Happy made up festival everyone! DON'T EAT THE PISSBERRIES AFTER MIDNIGHT.
Worrying news article

Outrage about thing that most people are broadly outraged about.
Boost if you agree.
Family are away this week, so please brave yourselves for an absolute tidal wave of......

Camping day 3. The sheen has somewhat worn off. Didn't help I apparently went to bed at half 3 after getting 'enthusiastic' all up in the place. We are apparently on the way to see a castle. I am going to have to plumb supernatural depths to find the level of enthusiasm required to be interested in tapestries.
I regret to inform you all that I have completed my assessment and the result has returned that it's objective NOT subjective and that in fact it turns out I have the best taste in music.
So. I have just been made aware that square melons are a thing.

nostr:npub17rhev88r9q0tjaytv32hnhzq6fg4ppcff09hejdnfe2tjc36ny4qm9mj8d I avoided this but didn't realise Samara Weaving was in it - will now be checking it out. Thanks. 👍
Going through old pics because we've got a couple of the fams birthdays coming up and have got some brilliant memories. Including when the kids were very little and I convinced them that their dolls could drive the car.
