I mean this goes back a long way, so dyor.
Where do you think we’re at?
“Nearly 350 rebels were executed in the Goliad Massacre, and almost twice as many as were killed at the siege of the Alamo. The death toll would have been even higher if not for a Mexican woman known as the “Angel of Goliad” who convinced a Mexican colonel to spare the lives of approximately 20 doctors, orderlies and interpreters.
Santa Anna’s ruthless treatment of the captured soldiers had the opposite effect than what he intended. The “Napoleon of the West” was no longer seen as a brilliant military strategist but a cruel despot. The Goliad Massacre hardened attitudes toward Santa Anna throughout the United States and inflamed and unified the Texas resistance. Less than a month later, as [Sam] Houston prepared his men for the decisive Battle of San Jacinto that would earn Texas its independence, he concluded his impassioned speech with the rallying cry: “Remember the Alamo! The Alamo! The Alamo!” His men thundered a reply with an addendum: “Remember the Alamo! Remember Goliad!”

“Freedom” is such an important and difficult word. It is ever only relative, contextual. So we - individual, community, state, nation - have ‘freedom’ within what ‘freedom’ we appreciate, which is different from another’s appreciated ‘freedom’.
So obv it’s easy to slowly ‘corral’ freedom, as we do with actual animal corrals, and the ‘breaking’ of animals, et al. Which is a ‘pendulum of history’ that swings ever again.
But I guess my point is: we all want Freedom to be as fully expressed as “we” are (again, scale). But sometimes that freedom is small for us, but perceived invasive for others. (i.e. the freedom to out-source cheap labor to make pink flamingos, the freedom to not expose the kids at my school to drag queens who want to explain themselves, the freedom to demand a closer parking space that’s paid for by my work, etc)
So negotiation is always needed. And must needfully be enforced. Which sets the whole hamster-wheel of State going again.
I KNOW Bitcoin can separate Money from State, and rejuvenate real Human Enterprise across the globe again.
I DON’T BELIEVE it will stop or prevent the cycle of mixed incentives that essentially boil-down to Class Antagonism.
Whelp…I just hot-taked an Ayn Rand group on Twitter, and now realize I’m going to hate my Twitter inbox in the morning.
Probably for the best. Been thinking it’s time to go full nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx
[“Don’t chu know, you NEVER go full ODELL!]
Anywhoo…
Ayn Rand was a Narcissist, and knew how to inspire a cult.
kthxbyyyeeeee!!!!!!
I paid no attention to this story until recently.
But as a long-time player of Skyrim, who’s the most important contact if you want to kill an Emperor and get away with it?
Not Secret Service.
And not Housekeeping or Butlers.
You need to infiltrate The Chef!
As someone involved in the raw milk and real foods movement from back in 2000, I’ve seen so, so much of this bullshit. And as a wise man once said, “It’s all so tiresome.”
Might be worth pointing out that when we throw around how Bitcoin Miners only bring ~900BTC onto the market daily…
…if I’m a miner and I’m selling ALL of my daily mined BTC, I’m going out of business.
imo, we’ve already Halved.
Nice observation, but we all know you’re in it for the tech…
Wait-
I was gonna buy Bitcoin…
Guy no Bitcoiner has ever heard of says Bitcoin is “compromised and lost it’s way” and gold will fix it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jw7LAxO_dYI
(yeah, I didn’t bother watching this either, just snarking)
In the next few weeks, we’ll discover if the “Halving is priced in”.
Four years from now, we won’t ask this question again.
If you’re a TA autist…
You need to check yourself and realize.
Nothing does this every 4 years.
Therefore your maths are not math.
We don’t fully recognize what we’re dealing with.
Checking out, had a great night. Talked to an old-friend about Bitcoin, she was excited it was up, wanted to sell some, I said “hey, you be you”, but explained as best I could how I felt Bitcoin was going to 300 or 400K at least, she was admissible and we parted with a wink and a smile.
I offer this irl experience, no need to elaborate.
Is it me or have LN Network apps ThunderHub and RidetheLightning become worth than useless? I’m not hating, it’s just that over a year or so I can’t use them in any practical way.
Don’t hate the player, explain how the game is actually still viable.
yeah, sniffing my own farts, but its Friday night and this reply to a comment was pungent…. nostr:note1vp0rv36p2fe7sahs37tm87gqgs5ddszg9mkmpxjucez6k9v0gleszxwtz4
Absolutely, yes you’re right.
Also, Coinbase keeps pulling a Robinhood by denying Retail from buying when their corporate clients have massive inflows to pair-up.
So there are a lot of factors at play.
As there always are when tectonic plates have shifted.
I’m only, humbly offering that Bitcoin breaking to new ath and rocketing up…that’s shits done. Now we’re on the stairway to Heaven. Greater demand must find the price that forces multi-year Hodlers to sell.
And we Hodlers have our price, let’s not be naive.
But the amount we will part with diminishes quickly over time, and will continue to do so for our children. And their children.
It’s going to be strange to witness, actually, and I hope I do for as long as I can.
It’s an economic theory that has never been written. It’s the opposite of Capitalism, at the same time that it’s the opposite of Socialism, or Communism, or virtually ever other “-ism”.
Bitcoin is Economy Without Ideology. It simply is. “Economists” of the future will become little better than weather forecasters. They won’t command any respect apart from their ‘batting average’.
I keep hearing it said that Bitcoin keeps setting new highs and then immediately selling down, presumably instead of spiking up, up, up.
Bear in mind that that’s just how normal, not-in-the-final-blow-off bull markets are supposed to act.
The stair-step is our friend.
