Went to get my haircut today. I’ve been close with my hairdresser for at least 4-5 years, gotten to know her pretty well. Every six weeks, like clockwork.
She’s gone through some shit recently, re-evaluating life. Smart, open minded. Bright. Positive. Asked me about bitcoin a few months ago, out of the blue.
Have been back twice since then. Bought her a book. Told her the best thing she can do is read up on it and have an open mind. Maybe buy a little, so you can feel it. But read, educate yourself first above all.
Fast forward to today. Lots more questions. Volatility, energy, what is money anyway?, do you think it’ll drop sharply again? why do home prices only go up?, why are my hair product prices going through the roof? She’s on the path.
Shifted to time preference, energy, what it means for freedom and the 3rd world, those with no financial privilege. Talked about funding wars, petrodollar, hyperinflation in history, etc. Real smorgasbord of topics to dip your toe near the rabbit hole. Kept it light though.
In the end, the most interesting comment came early. Sentiment check. She said of all her clients, bitcoin gets mentioned periodically… nobody takes it seriously. “If it’s so great, why haven’t you accepted it as payment then?…Must be nothing.” It’s all a scam, drug dealers, criminals, etc. etc. Apparently, it turns out, I’m the only one who has even engaged in a rational discussion about it. Early.
For perspective, she probably has several hundred clients, from all walks of life, broad cross section of society. Many are very successful and well educated people. Even someone who works for the monetary authorities. Trust.
We’re in the middle of one of America’s major cities. And not a single one of her clients has said a single positive or serious thing to say about bitcoin. It’s laughed off in passing. I told her, either I’m crazy, or this is the best proof you’re gonna get that this once in a lifetime technological shift is not priced in or understood yet. But it could very well be the most important technologies of our lifetimes, hiding in plain open source sight. There is so much room to run to change the world.
All it takes is an open mind, perhaps some circumstance, curiosity and being humble.
What a time to be alive.
Relax, nothing is under control. 🧡
“This is an assured source of financing,” Yellen told reporters.
Happy 🍕 day.
If you've never seen a live performance of Mahler's Second Symphony, do yourselves a favor and just go. Even if you're not 'into' classical music, this 90 minute experience will change you.
Was entstanden ist, das muß vergehen!
Was vergangen, auferstehen!
Hör' auf zu beben!
Bereite dich zu leben!
What was created must perish,
What has perished must rise again.
Tremble no more!
Prepare yourself to live!
“People often ask what it feels like to conduct. It is very hard to describe...at the end of it you feel that you have arrived in heaven having gone through hell.” -Semyon Bychkov about Mahler's 2nd.
For those of you in either New York or Chicago, you're in luck! There are some performances coming up in the next few weeks. Just go, you won't regret it.

Why is taking advantage of something generally considered ‘good’ while taking advantage of someone is ‘bad’?
Getting ready for Friday’s halving day BBQ…
Good morning
and relax, nothing is under control.

Natalie, you're a blessing and while many of your peers are mostly speaking to those already sucked deep into the rabbit hole / black hole, you genuinely thrive by consistently focusing on the event horizon. It's a tough balancing act, but it's where your impact is greatest. Know your audience. I think you've nailed it, and keep it up. Humbled by you and your work. 👏 🧡
Lower your expectations. Or, better yet, don't have any. Generally works out for the better and leads to pleasant surprises.
The 5-year GME and ETHBTC charts have some remarkable similarities.

"People often complain that music is too ambiguous, that what they should think when they hear it is so unclear, whereas everyone understands words. With me, it is exactly the opposite, and not only with regard to an entire speech but also with individual words. These, too, seem to me so ambiguous, so vague, so easily misunderstood in comparison to genuine music, which fills the soul with a thousand things better than words. The thoughts which are expressed to me by music that I love are not too indefinite to be put into words, but on the contrary, too definite."

Good morning.
Reminder: a sixteen year-old composed this.
Get to work.
I'm not saying one is better than the other, I'm shocked that not a single person has ever ordered an espresso from that coffee truck (that has a really expensive looking espresso machine, by the way). That's astounding. 😂
Kind of like how it's nearly impossible to get a good Pilsner at a craft brewery anymore. Drowned out by other shiny objects.
So there's this new coffee truck that showed up near my work. After lunch I walk up and order an espresso, and notice something is a bit off by the guy who took my order as he scrolls through his device to find the right item. The owner comes over a few seconds later and asks to confirm, 'just a regular espresso? not an americano or anything?'. He goes on to say 'you're the first customer who's ever ordered a straight espresso'...
