A lot of people wonder why Bitcoin has such a strong presence here on Nostr. It's honestly quite simple. Besides the overlap of Bitcoin developers building Nostr, both protocols compliment one another and share the same ethos.

Bitcoin and Nostr are two protocols that have the potential to revolutionize the way we communicate and transact with the world around us.

Both protocols are designed to be censorship-resistant and decentralized, which means that they cannot be controlled by any single entity. This makes them ideal for those who value freedom.

Both protocols allow the user to be in control of their own transactions, whether that be financial transactions or social communication transactions. With Bitcoin and Nostr, there is no need to trust a third party.

You don't have to be a Bitcoiner to use Nostr, but understanding why Bitcoiners value Nostr is better than writing off the whole protocol. I hope this helps new Nostriches. <3

The biggest gap is, Normies need centralisation (which is directly associated with UX). Speak to them about npub/nsec, bitcoin address or so, they lose interest. They need to understand Bitcoin even before using LN. They value UX more than decentralisation, privacy or security. Unfortunately it would take a lot of time for this to change. Until then it would only be us. 😑

I still can't believe we hit 1 million zaps today. Zaps have only been around for 4 months. Clients didn't implement them right away either. Clients slowly added this feature. It's an incredible milestone. #1MillionZaps
