How Humane can fix the AI Pin (before it's too late)
==========
Humane's AI Pin, a wearable AI assistant, has received negative reviews for its performance and usability. Reviewers have criticized its slow responses, incorrect answers, challenging user interface, poor battery life, and lack of integration with smartphones and popular apps. The high price and additional subscription fees are also seen as hard to justify. It is unclear if Humane can improve the device's performance and reliability through firmware updates and software development. Connectivity issues with 4G LTE and limited Wi-Fi compatibility have been highlighted. Suggestions for improvement include passthrough-style authentication via Bluetooth to a smartphone, utilizing IoT connectivity standards like Matter, and exploring alternative language models. Competitors like Apple, Amazon, and Google are well-positioned to capitalize on Humane's shortcomings. Humane must enhance the AI Pin's performance, improve connectivity, make the user interface more accessible, and boost cloud service resiliency to compete in the wearable tech market.

Humane Ai Pin reviews: 5 takeaways on a promising but dangerously flawed wearable
==========
The first reviews of the Humane Ai Pin wearable highlight its ambitious features and potential, but also point out several flaws. The wearable offers various ways to interact with the hardware and surroundings, including taps, voice commands, visual data processing, and laser ink projection. However, reviewers found that the interactions can be difficult to master and the AI capabilities are limited. The laser projection is not bright enough to be readable in direct sunlight. The battery life is decent with the additional Battery Booster accessory, but the device can get hot. The Ai Pin is durable and can withstand drops, but it is still a work in progress and not recommended for purchase at the moment. Future software updates are expected to improve its features.

Self-driving cars and AI voice and image generation lead ZDNET's Innovation Index
==========
The top trends in ZDNET's Innovation Index for the week include OpenAI's Voice Engine cloning voices from a 15-second clip, Waymo self-driving cars delivering Uber Eats orders, Apple releasing the ReALM AI model to outperform GPT-4, and OpenAI's DALL-E image generator using voice prompts to edit images. These AI-related stories dominated the top spots in the index. The OpenAI voice cloning revelation received the most votes, followed by Waymo's autonomous vehicles, Apple's ReALM AI model, and OpenAI's DALL-E image generator. Apple CEO Tim Cook has hinted at unveiling the company's AI plans at WWDC in June.

Is HR ready for generative AI? New data says there's a lot of work to do
==========
Generative AI is the technology that IT feels most pressure to exploit, but nine out of 10 IT organizations can't support the growing demand for AI-related projects. C-suite executives are the #1 influencers demanding quick generative AI implementation. 88% of IT professionals claim they can't support the deluge of AI-related requests they receive. Businesses are tasked with implementing AI solutions, but face technical challenges like integration and data silos. HR professionals are being tasked with defining AI usage policies. The biggest opportunities for HR to benefit from AI are in recruiting, learning and development, and talent management. 25% of organizations have adopted generative AI for recruiting, and 30% plan to adopt it in the next 24 months. The main hurdles to AI adoption in HR are a lack of AI expertise, fear of compliance and risk, and lack of resources or funding. Only 16% of organizations have a policy on using generative AI, and even fewer have a policy on ethically using AI. Valoir recommends HR leaders select trusted vendors and technologies and put in place appropriate policies, procedures, safeguards, and training. HR's role as data steward and policy implementer is critical for successful AI adoption.

This new AI tool from Adobe gives you more control over image generation
==========
Adobe has introduced a new feature called Structure Reference in its text-to-image generator, Firefly. This feature allows users to input an image as a template for the AI model to create a new image with the same layout and composition. Users can adjust the 'strength' of the structure reference to control how closely the new image adheres to the reference. Structure Reference works alongside Style Reference, which uses an image as a reference to generate a new image in the same style. Users can now use a combination of Style Reference, Structure Reference, and detailed prompts to create images that match their needs. The feature is available on the web and mobile versions of Firefly.
