I have an #asknostr about Nostr.

In a client, we select which relays to connect to. Is that list of relays that we have chosen to connect to stored on the client side, or does that list of relays become an event that gets sent to relays as well?

I assumed the latter, that my relay list is published to relays, because if I spin up my keys in a new client it seems to have the same relay connections. But then if I change the relays there in that new client, it doesn’t seem to change the relays on my other prior clients. I assume this is because of the basic Nostr fact that there is no global state and thus relays can have different information about the same user/keypair. Or is some of the relay network connection list stored locally on the client as well?

I guess a broader question is, what types of Nostr information are persistently stored locally on a client?

I don't have any evidence that this works, but I think you might be able to get your phone number removed from spam bots by answering and immediately muting yourself. The bots are programmed to start their routine when they hear a "hello" or any significant sound on the receiving end. If you make no noise to initiate the conversation, they almost always hang up in about 6 to 8 seconds. I imagine that this sort of failure is logged on their end as a phone number to not call again, because what kind of human would answer the phone and not make a sound? Well, me 😂

Think of the alternative signals you can send:

- don't answer and they will just try again later

- send them to voicemail while ringing will indicate you are a human but you don't want to talk right now, so they will try again later

- answer and say hello - now they know for sure you're a human and they will keep bothering you

But answer and make no noise and they system will probably think you're a bot or some unreachable line. I feel like I've gotten less spam calls since I started doing this. Like I said, this is just my personal theory, but it's crazy enough to work 😁

Good point, but for simplicity I see them as one. Nostr identities have little value without the relays. I know this is semantics, but what I am looking for is a simple way to communicate to normies.

As of now, kind is an unsigned int. So negative numbers cannot exist until we change how nostr encodes event kinds, which might change everything.

But GiftWrapped & Sealed medical data is a thing. We have been doing a bunch of experiments. It's hard to crack the growth of it, but definitally possible.
