-THE BITCOIN BORACAY ISLAND LIFE-

In 1966, 5 megabytes of computer data was a monumental amount, and it would be stored on a staggering 62,500 punched cards. Each card represented a small piece of data, with each hole punched in the card corresponding to a bit of information.

The process of inputting this data into a computer was slow and labor-intensive. It would take approximately four days to load all 5 megabytes of data, a stark contrast to the instantaneous processing speeds we are accustomed to today.

The use of punched cards for data storage and input was common during this era, with each card capable of holding only a small amount of information. The sheer volume of cards required for just 5 megabytes of data highlights how far technology has come in terms of storage and processing power.

Back then, computers were large, complex machines that required specialized knowledge to operate, and the process of handling data was both time-consuming and cumbersome.

Fast forward to today, and 5 megabytes of data can easily be stored on a USB flash drive smaller than a matchbook, and can be transferred or accessed in mere seconds.

The evolution of computer technology since 1966 has been nothing short of extraordinary, with massive increases in storage capacity, speed, and efficiency. The example of loading 5 megabytes on punched cards in 1966 serves as a reminder of the incredible advances in technology we’ve witnessed in just a few decades.
