As golf season wraps up for 2024 here in Manitoba, I'm looking back at all the new courses played this summer

This one in Medora, ND stands out

BULLY PULPIT

The course definitely lived up to it's name

I remember driving to the course. The landscape was very similar to what we have here in the prairies - lots of farmland, oil rigs, and pasture.

Then all of a sudden we were in the middle of the Badlands. There was nothing gradual about it.

The course was breathtaking

The staff was very friendly

The golf was good

And the Caesars - even though they cost $12 USD - were phenomenal

It was my favorite course I got to play this summer.

What was yours?

You should hear some of the stories. The caddy was telling us some good ones during the round.

Sergio played there a while back.

First day he played a hole driver, 9 iron - with the wind

The next day, the wind switched and he hit driver, 3 wood, 6 iron

I think I paid about $250 USD off season back in 2019!

But yes it was such an amazing experience.

Worth every penny.

Also had to stop and buy more golf balls after 9 holes haha the wind was beyond words!

Speak it into existence

One thing I've noticed on the golf course is when I say something out loud, it often comes true

*Keep in mind - this works for both positive AND negative outcomes

We're going to focus on the positive

On many occasions, while stepping up to a chip or putt and saying "I think I'm gonna make this" it actually goes in

Call your shot!

In this clip, I said "best drive of the year"

And even though it probably wasn't THE best, it was still ripped and in perfect position - one of the best shots I hit on that hole all year

And if you're someone who isn't quite as "vocal" as me, just say it in your head. The key is that you actually have to believe it.

It makes a big difference

It focuses your attention on positive thoughts and confidence - instead of worry and fear

And if you're a golfer, you know how much better a loose confident swing is compared to a tight fearful swing

Consider sharing and zapping πŸ€

*every sat zapped will result in an equal amount of good bounces on the course https://video.nostr.build/b5a5c5792b292f84679ca924111f132a25663e0fde08499b9eb4cb3686901e17.mp4

"I'll take anything with a name"

Bridge just started golfing last summer

She made her first PAR this year

This weekend (our last weekend of golf this season) she had FOUR par putts

She missed but them all but still very impressive nonetheless

For the new golfers out there - be content with any score that has a name

Eagle, Birdie, Par, Bogey, Double, Triple

Keep the ball in play

Practice your short game

And avoid the scores without names and you will see a big drop of your total score

MOVE THE BALL BACK ⛳️

Getting more distance +

Improved ball striking

My natural shot is a draw.

This led to several years of severe struggles getting off the tee - either a snap hook right or a block to the left

So I taught myself to FADE the ball

I've been doing this for about 3 years now and my driving has improved significantly. Golf is alot easier when you're in the fairway!

But I lost a ton of distance with my irons.

I was more consistent. But consistently short or left of the green.

So I tried moving the ball back an inch or so in my stance. And this changed everything.

Although the accuracy isn't quite where I want it to be (yet), I've basically gained two extra clubs - or 20 yards - with my irons.

And it's ALOT easier hitting an 8 iron from the fairway instead of a 6 iron.

Try it for yourself.

A good rule of thumb that I use:

-The 7 iron is my middle point

So when I'm hitting a 7 iron, the ball is in the middle of my stance

-When I'm hitting a 6 iron, it's slightly ahead of middle

-And when I'm hitting an 8 iron, it's slightly back of middle towards my back foot

It will feel a little uncomfortable at first but just spend time working on it at the range
