I'm from the 70s. I'm married. I'm a Mahayana Buddhist some Chan some Zen some Vajrayana. I have ancestors from Spain and the Caribbean but I'm not Hispanic. I have ancestors from the Seneca nation but I'm not indigenous. I have ancestors from Ireland and France but I'm not European. I've never been to the place I was born. The borderlands are my home. Entiendo EspaΓ±ol y puedo imitarlo (mΓ‘s o menos).

What Vyr said. I mostly use it when I'm making a thread of several posts. I do the first one normal and then do the rest unlisted. That way if someone clicks on the thread, they'll see the whole thing but it won't otherwise clog up their timeline.

Salt preserves well, huh!? πŸ˜‚

The other day, someone posted here about vegan SPAM from down under. 😳 *seriously, why???* 😝

I've seen vegetarian ham at the Chinese grocery but I've always been too afraid to try it. πŸ˜…

I was at the store again so I bought some Peatos as a joke and they're actually delicious. O.o

What is your source of water for your home/family? A well? Do you have any way to monitor the health of your well...level of the aquifer you tap into?

This is an issue I'm transitioning to. Our property owner's assoc meets Labor Day. Let's see how the group addresses this potential future issue.

We're on a well. It's an old ranch well and pretty shallow but it's never run dry. We've got 3000 gallons of rainwater in tanks from winter and a 1500 gallon reserve that fills from the well. If we're careful, we can last until winter without having to get water trucked in. But, there's been a lot of development around us in the last few years and I still don't know how that's going to affect our well.

Here is a prediction for sunset today (Saturday) for smoke extent. It appears fairly accurate when compared to visible weather satellite images.

Thanks for the heads-up! There's smoke over us (just north of Silver City) now. So far, it's high altitude but I worry that it's going to drop over night. Our house doesn't have AC and if we have to close it up overnight it's gonna suck.

There's a big fire blowing up to the Northwest. I went up on a nearby ridge and it looks like it's out by Cliff and Gila. This has been a rough summer. #NewMexico #fire #climatechange

nostr:npub1te686df47h2e4m2ujfm7294sne4nt75xscp7t6ruzpga3ncgq0aqu6zc4l did you check ESP32-SBC-FabGL? It has PC emulator and runs FreeDOS where you can run all old PC stuff and have access to GPIO I2C and SPI from them

I've definitely thought about it! Thanks for all the cool stuff you make!

It was super hot. Normally by this time of year we're in the rainy season and things have cooled off. This summer, it's dry and just keeps getting hotter.

I'm not sure why the ground is pink. The whole area is volcanic so I imagine it's some mineral.

Out in the desert north of town. The camera doesn't do it justice but the ground here is bright pink. #NewMexico

Well, that ALIX PC I got has display hardware but the resistors that connect the bus to the VGA header aren't installed. Sadly, they're smd, tiny and beyond my skill level to install.

You know, nostr:npub1muxax757ykadk8xsx234k3m5p60h3pqk867xmudj2ewru9rla2eq097y89 has been on a roll with amazing SBCs, they should totally make a vortex86 board to run FreeDOS ... Just saying... πŸ˜‰

Thanks! I think I still have that set up from when I was messing around with the WDC6502 SBC. If I get into anything serious that's the way to go. After all, I'm pretty spoiled by modern text editors. 😁

Had a nice run out at Dragonfly this morning. I'm starting to get my legs in trail condition. I was still chugging up the hills but was able to run fast on the downhill sections. #running #NewMexico #wildflowers
