Stopping posting on my Nostr account for the time being because the people on that network only seem to post about Nostr and cryptocurrency (and it works worse than Mastodon)
Actually I logged values while twiddling it around and I'm seeing a nice offset sphere appearing (dark purple)

My sensor for Earth's magnetic field has an offset that's in its local coordinates, while Earth's field remains in global coordinates, and I get the sum, which was confusing ("this vector is transforming as what?") Will need to zero calibrate it.
I guess this is roughly what you'd see if you tried to surf into Earth's atmosphere on a small boat hull

You know what has both persistent data and commands? Microsoft Excel.
Not a big fan of the terminal-like environments (Matlab etc.) that make data persistent but encourage you to treat commands as throw-away
I never do any complicated terminal commands interactively, I always put them in a shell script for future re-use.
