I write Daring Fireball, host The Talk Show, and created Markdown.

This is beautiful.

nostr:npub15uenugzhjs98fw7hed3lxnk5g44sxjdsuajtzugzea2t56nzdwyqw8zu53 It's the worst part of these short testing periods, IMO. And even with multiple new phones in hand, I can't pretend to use one of them "normally" while using the other one for testing, because there's no way to use one phone normally while spending hours a day on another one.

Worst college paper experience for me? I took a great photo of the new mayor on campus—the first African-American mayor in New Haven’s history—and our newspaper printer didn’t halftone it. He came out all black with white eyeballs. Now, I think the prints were racists.

nostr:npub1hvdfn5ne7zvks3ztfewr00vdjv3kve4nddht43p8fjepc8rn6yasz69sq9 That sounds about right. I think we might’ve even settled at 60 LPI screens.

nostr:npub10dc6v5tqw8sxurecy5qxux6k2gahayg6myrmqpe49t2z2tz6yk4qfpnvy2 Yes, it looks much more like a play than a screenplay this way.

Always a question when publishing a screenplay as a book: typeset with Courier, per the actual working drafts used in the industry, or with a proper text face like a novel? Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” is set in Sabon (my favorite text typeface):

nostr:npub1eeetax7xxyr7mem486lqayj4av7czytttp9swjwn6yry6sn790lqrve209 Funny, that was one of my “solutions” to the problem. I used this app

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/tabs-switcher/id1406718335?mt=12

I just love that Arc sidebar, it makes me nostalgic for OmniBrowser

nostr:npub1l6fersf5dpy8jnqrld62zgd85f0ujh875c4mhg8kl5d3uuzt3g9shv3x5h Whoa, I had never heard of Tabs Switcher before. Checking it out now -- thanks a zillion for pointing it out.

nostr:npub1ndmjxytgemvcjutp2xhf670cq9t0e086nsyf3k7cewesnwnnkuuqsa9d2d My personal favorite, without question, is the Henry Box Brown. I still consider it astonishing.

The Hop Sing Bourbon Manhattan is so good. I was there once with an acquaintance who's a professional food critic, and avowed Manhattan connoisseur, and even he was like, “Wait, how is this Manhattan so good?”

Consider my mind blown. I just got a dark cherry leather MagSafe case the other day and didn’t notice the color coordinated MagSafe ring when I first put it on. After hearing it on the talk show I immediately took the case off and put it back on just to see it.

I can record a video of me using it. Any use cases you think would be good?

nostr:npub1eeetax7xxyr7mem486lqayj4av7czytttp9swjwn6yry6sn790lqrve209 sure you’ve already had this feedback, but StandBy works plugged in to charge when the phone is horizontal.

So I think the requirement is the phone is charging and it’s horizontal.

It’s a wonderful time capsule with some really fascinating perspectives; especially from the locals. Recommend.

Dude is getting a 4-course meal with champagne on a flight? Hell yeah.

nostr:npub1eeetax7xxyr7mem486lqayj4av7czytttp9swjwn6yry6sn790lqrve209 I’ve been trying it for a month. I use both it and Safari at the same time. If you have a tonne of tabs that you want to keep open it’s way easier for me to manage than the squished tabs in Safari.

Navigating is really interesting — click on a link and it opens in a new child tab (instead of navigating the current tab). You have to try it to understand.

Yeah it’s $50 at the front door! Interesting model for sure. (I like from a developer point of view that it’s just a Stripe form.)

nostr:npub19qrhmsx0nx6vx2aaykzhanclj8vk389rfrxfqrr74rqjfq8jpzgqh5js8v I’m curious enough that I might buy it. So the tab sidebar is organized like an outliner?

nostr:npub1eeetax7xxyr7mem486lqayj4av7czytttp9swjwn6yry6sn790lqrve209 glad to see Arc get a shout out on nostr:npub1z9ldjwyj8yvuw2qk2xaeuhgjyw7qvxdptevxhe69s2mcpntks7jsey4trf . Just wanted to chime in and say I also love Safari but made the switch. For me it was just I am a messy desk person and would always have 20 windows with 10 tabs and could never find anything. Arc really discourages that behavior and it’s organization just really “clicks” with me.

nostr:npub1l6fersf5dpy8jnqrld62zgd85f0ujh875c4mhg8kl5d3uuzt3g9shv3x5h I can see that. But I think that’s why Arc didn’t click for me: I *want* to have dozens, often hundreds, of tabs open.

I wrote my own little tab manager for Safari to let me search for open tabs by name. I should polish it up and share it.

nostr:npub185t5ln9ss2mdlpthts4e73q72yyl8uj3hlayhpsll36uue84pcesdupwlf nostr:npub199glugp35q3tu6gzm99g05w8vf849ac5p0f37uatw2c3zmscx8csd5nc0a Was the Pocket Mac app any good? I'd try it but it looks they already pulled it from the Mac App Store. I'm guessing it wasn't any good, so they might as well just rely on the iPad version.

On the Mac, Pocket seems like the sort of thing that makes sense to use in your web browser. Even Apple's own News app is built with Catalyst, and every single time I use Apple News on the Mac I wind up wishing I were reading the article in Safari instead.

nostr:npub1m37f5jdc0h3uy8a7yspeqt57tslmv8fsx3h2uuh0wq0gplsnnx6sce7wzc nostr:npub1f4dwlre9xrzayv7wvvrkrdh8eyegz85r9s6c52wx36jxedl9qzks8242zv Interesting, especially since the mechanical keyboard has not just been more Mac-friendly in recent years, but often Mac-first. I see a lot of new keyboards that default to Mac modifier keys and ship Windows keys separately. The issue here seems to be that this keyboard requires quite a bit of software.
