Looks like #umbrel had the option to run a #monero node now. Might test that out on the spare pi.

I found a recipe to create your own Anti-Surveillance IR glasses in case you wanted to give your local tyrants the middle finger. I believe it was around Section 8. Here is an onion address to download the ebook: http://b6yzjvubthwi4okgxglvoa6c32bw52kvypgbf34jqwxqbljazvihviad.onion/3FV2DaDNcJ_LztwJAlNFuQ

Only until bitcoin can fix its privacy problem. Gold doesnt make sense to me as no commercial cashier is going to know what to do with it, maybe if you are dealing directly with the store owner, but not otherwise. Something that you can convert to digital fiat is the best and most practical option. I prefer monero for simplicity over lightning or liquid which need extra effort and know how to operate privately.

Imagine, if you will, the inevitable overreach where the government forces Cashapp and Strike to give up their clients information at gunpoint or by that of harming their family. You are on their list and must give account of every sat you purchased or received as a non anonymous tip or payment. You'll be rewarded for your compliance and rat outs or punished by your resistance with force. You will be rewarded and well compensated for reporting any coins you know of that are nonkyc. Many of us are just one executive order away from this reality. I feel like our threat models should take this very real situation into consideration.

The majority will do whatever the government tells them to do to get their comforts back, only those who are prepared will be able to weather the surveillance state. I suspect that the vast majority of people, including plebs on here, will offer very little resistance before deciding to take it in the ass. The fact that kyc bitcoin is talked about as a valid option on here has brought me to this conclusion.

I find myself at a loss for words. A rare occurence. #grownostr

I've been #discussing with a user on here about Monero or #Bitcoin being better.

I felt my last response to their view that Bitcoin has no advantage over FIAT when it is primarily moved through large institutions was worth its own note which I am posting here with minor edits:

No advantage over #FIAT is laughable. #Bitcoin being #debasement proof is it's biggest advantage over FIAT. The #government's primary source of #power, fueling it's ability to be a #surveillancestate, is it's ability to #steal #wealth by printing money which Bitcoin stops.

#Meanwhile BTC having it's block subsidy continually reduced by half every four years, thus pushing the value of every ₿ in existence up due to it's increasing marginal cost of production over time, is it's biggest advantage over #Monero.

It used to take 10 min to create ₿50 and they were worth much less, now it takes 160 min (2.66 hours) to create ₿50 and it's worth much more. In 12 years it will take 1280 min (21.33 hours) and in 40 years it will take 163840 min (2730.66 hours). Every time the #halving occurs Bitcoin's #time-cost of production doubles, dragging along the value of already existing coins with it. This relation to time is it's driving factor for value, and BTC's main reason for being the best #storeofvalue ever found.

Monero fixing it's subsidy to it's current #TailEmitions forever means it is never going to become more valuable related to time, so it's value is #stagnant and loses to Bitcoin.

Despite Monero having better on chain privacy, it's inability to increase it's value relative to #finite human life/time does nothing to fix our #financialsystem. In addition, it will not bring about a new age of global abundance through incentivising the production of electricity globally (like Bitcoin does) to give our species the energy it needs to grow beyond our current abilities. Monero is very useful to those who use the darknet and prioritize privacy above all else, it is not very useful at freeing humanity from it's self imposed bondage. But Bitcoin is.

Good morning. Price appreciation and halvings aren't as correlated as supposed in the article as though it's simply a black and white issue, but more importantly, the utilized calculated value is compared to Bitcoins value, not on moneros. Id argue Moneros value proposition is that of anonymity, something that btc and layer 2 solutions simply cannot match and will absolutely need to in order to avoid tyranical encroachment. This isn't simply a matter of chance of if it will become crucial for total privacy, but how long until it is necessary. Once bitcoin can achieve the total anonymity that Monero can provide, then I will acknowledge no more use case for monero.

This sent me on a rabbit hole of privacy glasses that block ir. Currently wondering if pinhole glasses could be effective.

I was driving through hillbilly country this evening and found the only gas station for miles cozied up within a mountain pass. It was an old fashion mechanical gas pump. When I went in to pay, I was surprised to see that they took CashApp pay. I asked if they took #Bitcoin half joking, and they said, "What's Bitcoin?"

I think it's mainly ignorance. Monero is everything they think bitcoin is.

Good morning! And yes, I mean all of them at once. #nostr

The transactions are private, but the kyc exchange will have record of the fact that you purchased through them. Once it moves, they won't be able to trace it, but you'll forever be on a government list that says you bought some.
