I make stuff about quantum physics

All courses are from universities, So you will pay for accreditation, But not to audit the courses. Most careers donโ€™t care about your degree, They care about experience.

Good morning.

Here's why Nostr matters to me. It's personal now.

Elon Musk is making exaggerated claims about South Africa. His statements imply there's an ongoing genocide currently happening against white people, which there isn't. I should know. I'm white and I live in South Africa.

๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ

And try as I might, corrective statements I make on twitter get very little traction, far less than my average post.

๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ

It may be true, it may not, but it's obvious that it's in the interest of Elon's algorithm to remove all nuance from the conversation and make it as divisive as possible.

๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ

Case in point, this "major political party" he refers to got less than 10% of the vote in recent elections and they've been shrinking, not growing. Their habit of singing a song that calls for killing "boers" (aka white people) is absolutely despicable. But most people (of all races) can see that and have little appetite for it.

Which is why there's no reason to expect that its leader, Julius Malema, will ever be South Africa's next president. Off course this may change, the future is uncertain, but as things stand now, it is a HIGHLY unlikely expectation.

๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ

Don't me wrong. There are huge problems in South Africa. Our current president doesn't have the backbone to condemn the very obvious racist rhetoric of parties like the EFF, while pretending that very serious concerns raised aren't real.

๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ

And in a way it's good that someone like Elon draws attention to it.

However, I'm almost certain that his particular rhetoric isn't helping nearly as much as it's dividing people and inflaming the situation. And I wish he'd instead draw more attention to and amplify many of the more reasonable voices that do speak about this.

๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ

But this won't happen.

If it bleeds it leads. And if someone controls the algorithm, why would they push something that draws less attention to their own platform?

Simple answer is, they won't. And this is why Nostr matters, to me.

It doesn't fix this today.

But at least I know there's a potential solution. Ready for us, when we are ready for it.

All interesting sides of this conversation.

Check out edx.org Uedemy, Brilliant, Corsera, All pay to use pieces of crap. Edx offers pay for certification, So if you just want to learn things that is still free.

Maybe NOSTR is great, But sucks compared to other projects behind paywalls and bubble data centers that have larger development budgets and nobody is proving anything except the ability to nerd. Cyberspace cannot lead anyone to happiness better than a human can lead themselves, It can only enhance your physical reality. Who is better is irrelevant.

The answer is yes. Happiness for Sisyphus is derived from pushing his boulder, Therefore where he pushes it is irrelevant, Just that he feels he is accomplishing something by pushing it is how we can measure his happiness. So the answer is yes, As far as the outside observer can tell, He is happy. The actual happiness is impossible to tell, Because โ€œhappyโ€ emotions are a combination of health and emotional positivity, Which has external emotional implications as well as dietary scientific factors that are unknown variables. We can only gauge his happiness by outside observation and if he is pushing and he seems motivated, We must assume he has the important factors keeping him pushing.

Yeah congratulations. Think of the 7.9 billion people who donโ€™t have that convenience.

Yeah but still: Just like there is no reparations for slavery, The Federal Reserve is a private for profit institution. Most people think the government controls the central bank but itโ€™s the other way around. The Fed has a better chance of abolishing the government than the opposite. One day they will add bitcoin to their balance sheet and anyone waiting for their failure so bitcoin can take over will be very disappointed. Besides, When the dollar actually fails, How will you buy bitcoin?

Except Afghanistan was about Russia too. There is no geopolitical strategy the US is using that China and Russia are not also either employing or trying to exploit by cheaper and more destructive means. Fentanyl and Carafentanyl are both far worse than just heroin and surprise, They are cheaper too! There is no pure and honest nation state and maybe Peter is just embracing the nation state he is from? Intelligence is also a-political soโ€ฆ

There is a clear distinction between โ€œhelpโ€ and โ€œbusinessโ€

I have the same conversation with gold bugs, Only 3% of money is physical cash, The CBDC is the sequel database at the fed, Just anyone not working at the federal reserve can participate in it without a bank intermediary. Also bitcoiners who want the fed to end. As much an anarchist wet dream that is, What will you buy your bitcoin with? You are the rare person who saved a million bitcoins anticipating the collapse of central banking in 2009? I am fine with the existence of FIAT currency, Most people are not technologically adept and financially literate enough to realize how to use bitcoin to outperform the Fed, To beat them at their own game. Thatโ€™s what institutions are doing anyway. There are plenty of things central banks have created that I enjoy very much. Bitcoin is a useful tool in making me more money but itโ€™s not my whole life, Just like dollars are not my whole life. Instead of promoting myself in a podcast or creating another financial product around bitcoin, I want to be living my life achieving my goals instead. My money working for me is something I only need to think about maybe an hour a day, There is more to life than money or bitcoin consuming me. I do admire the intellect of people building on bitcoin, Open source technology is creating a new global standard, And thatโ€™s fucking awesome! I also love a lot of people who have no clue that the fed is over its head in debt and they are just going about life loving their families and generally being good people, And that is mostly my experience in the 60% of the world still experiencing extreme poverty and social issues a government can not fix.
