St. Athanasius the Great (reposed in 298 AD) said "The Son of God became man, that we might become god"
This is in reference to, for example, 2 Peter 1:4 where he talks about us being partakers of the divine nature, which is only possible through Christ and His Grace. This is Theosis.
We are already made in His Image. Theosis is a call to strive to become like God in likeness. What that means is it is a call to follow Christ’s commandments to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Secondly, to love our neighbors as ourself. If we do these truly do these things, we unite ourselves to Christ.
Theosis is indeed apostolic tradition, and has nothing to do with Hesychasm. Many saints who were not Hesychasts achieved Theosis.
And Hesychasm was very present in the early church, especially in early monasticism, their lives can read about here: https://stanthonysmonastery.org/products/the-lives-of-the-great-desert-fathers
Tired old quotes.
I’ve actually read the book, he’s not talking about hesychasm, which Eastern Heterodox made up out of thin air in the Middle Ages.
Done, will link my new account here once I set it up.
After two hours I got one of my vanity keys! But not the main one I want. I ran one for a prefix and one for a suffix, but I really only want the prefix one, and it's still running.
I have two instances of the key generator open and they're both at almost 10 million and still nothing.
I had GPT run the math, and apparently the probability is something like 1 in 60 million.
I have no idea if that's actually true, because GPT is famously bad at math. But I'm famously worse at math than GPT is, so it's probably true.
I’ve never heard of this guy, but reading the op, it seems obvious.
I’m not saying I would’ve called it, but it’s not surprising either.
True, NIP 05 is better for an actual important person, but that's not how anyone is using it rn.
My browser crashed so I have to start my keygen over T_T
But each key is also unique, so I don't see the difference, aside from the check mark.
Choosing the first few characters of your pubkey accomplishes the same thing. It doesn't matter if other people can generate the same thing, that also applies for NIP 05.
If this happens you won't even need NIP 05 anymore.
Hopefully in the future, you can choose certain letters in your Nostr pubkey when you generate it, so you don't have to wait hours for an automated program to generate millions of them until it eventually lands on the right one.
