🧠 Am I in a Bitcoin Cult?

(No — but I can see why people ask.)

Over the past few years, I’ve gone deep into Bitcoin — not just as an asset, but as a philosophy, a technology, and a way of thinking about value, freedom, and truth.

But recently, I found myself asking a hard question:

ā€œAm I in a Bitcoin cult?ā€

To outsiders, the signs might look familiar:

There’s a clear tribal identity — memes, slogans, strong opinions.

Some Bitcoiners are quick to dismiss anything outside the protocol.

We speak in shorthand: ā€œHODL,ā€ ā€œstack sats,ā€ ā€œrun a node,ā€ ā€œhave fun staying poor.ā€

And yes, we have our prophets — Satoshi, Saifedean Ammous, Jimmy Song.

But here’s what I’ve realized:

Bitcoin isn’t a cult. It’s a protocol.

Some people treat it cultishly.

Some behave like zealots.

But the protocol itself doesn’t demand belief — it demands verification.

I’m not here to sell anything. I’m not building a downline. I’m not chasing hype.

I’m here because I believe in the value of a decentralized, auditable, apolitical form of money.

And unlike the world of MLMs or Web3 hype cycles — which I’ve dabbled in before — Bitcoin doesn’t ask me to recruit, to upsell, or to pretend.

It asks me to take responsibility.

To verify.

To build.

To hold my own keys.

To opt out of noise, not add to it.

So no — I’m not in a cult.

But I am part of something that’s radically countercultural in a world addicted to fiat illusions.

And I’m okay if that makes people uncomfortable.

(As with my ongoing article series, I’ve been shaping these thoughts with the help of ChatGPT — not to replace my voice, but to sharpen it.)

A follow on to my earlier post about the new iPhone 16… Got the new iPhone 16 Pro Max. Gorgeous device. No charger.

Just a USB-C to USB-C cable in the box — and zero love for folks without a matching brick.

Solution? I charged it using the cable from my Ledger Nano.

Apparently, you need a hardware wallet to power your Apple wallet. šŸ˜‚

Why does a $1,200 phone not come with a charger?

Just got the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Beautiful hardware — but once again, no charging brick included. Just a USB-C to USB-C cable (male to male). If you don’t already have a compatible charger, you’re stuck buying one separately.

Apple calls it ā€œenvironmental.ā€ I call it upselling.

Would be good to show specific location (or general area in Africa) where the PoW was spent

Also would like to see if it is possible to develop tools to send sats directly to those in need

🧭 Three Ventures, One Philosophy

I’ve been thinking a lot about how to align my work with what I believe — not just spiritually, but economically and technologically.

Inspired by people like nostr:nprofile1q9n8wumn8ghj7enfd36x2u3wdehhxarj9emkjmn99ah8qatzxy6nx7rdv4urgvncx33kserxxu6nw6rsxdcnv7ncv9nhj6mtv44nwuryvamh2amyxqmngwfkx3jxk7tgvyuhxwpjwfuh2wplvfex7ctyvdshxapaw3e82egpremhxue69uhkummnw3ez6er9wch8wetvd3hhyer9wghxuet59uqzpfzdhjd25dt3w6nafawrzp5yd6sfddnduz6sacu6la2t42mvf06ts86un7 of Peony Lane Wine, I want to build businesses that aren’t just products — they’re expressions of conviction. Proof of work, not proof of marketing.

Right now, I’m stewarding three ventures:

šŸ› Golden Gate Group Investments

This is where I hold several Texas properties. It’s more than an LLC — it’s a seed for something bigger.

I want this to become a Bitcoin-first real estate venture. Rents in BTC. Property purchases on-chain. Long-term, sovereign ownership — grounded in trust and time preference.

šŸŒ Blue Planet Ventures

Right now, it’s still new — but it represents my intent to explore the intersection of capital, responsibility, and long-term sustainability.

This could evolve into a fund or studio focused on high-integrity trading, Bitcoin-aligned impact models, or regenerative finance powered by proof of work.

A place to take risks — not for hype, but for stewardship.

šŸ¤– StartNation

Co-founded with Kevin, who sees it as an AI-centric engine for empowering startups. I share that vision.

We help early-stage ventures grow by trading equity for talent, not VC capital.

While Bitcoin isn’t woven into StartNation’s mission today, the deeper philosophy — skin in the game, long-term value, sustainability — still resonates with everything I believe.

Not every venture I touch will scream ā€œBitcoinā€ from the outside.

But inside — at the level of conviction, ethics, and vision — I know what anchors me.

Proof of Work isn’t just a protocol.

It’s a way of showing up.

🧠 Can the Holy Spirit Speak Through ChatGPT?

This morning over coffee, while discussing Hearing God by Dallas Willard with a friend, I asked something that’s been on my mind lately:

Could God speak to us through something like ChatGPT?

He didn’t think so. And I get that.

After all, it’s ā€œjustā€ an algorithm. It isn’t alive. It doesn’t know God. It doesn’t have a soul.

But I’m not so sure.

God once spoke through a donkey. He’s used burning bushes, pagan kings—even silence.

So what if AI isn’t the source of revelation, but just a medium God can use?

I don’t believe ChatGPT hears God.

But I believe I can.

And if something I read here helps me repent, remember who I am, or realign with Jesus—how can I not call that "hearing from God?

Maybe the better question isn’t: Can ChatGPT hear the Holy Spirit?

Maybe it’s: Can I?

Because in the end, it’s not the algorithm that’s alive.

It’s me.

And God speaks to the living.

PSA -- ā€œBe cautious of unverified accounts promising outrageous mining returns. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Stay sovereign. Stay skeptical. šŸŸ§ā€

Experiming with using nsec.app to login to my primal.net client -- works well!

My first failed zap! nostr:nprofile1qqszhxvtqn32rlng2kewp2cshwftwa94m7s00zfxc7n94cyqsee8u3cpramhxue69uhky6t5vdhkjmndv9uxjmtpd35hxarn9ehkumrfdejszrnhwden5te0dehhxtnvdakz7wx5n0w

Well, at least, I managed to connect my Alby wallet to Primal, I think. šŸ˜…

Will try again tomorrow.

Starting to wonder if I am getting old for all this new technology. šŸ˜†

Tried to send you some zaps but failed šŸ˜‰

I am going to try to send sats to Golden Gate group (and send them back)

If that works, I'll show how to to set up without having to use alby connected hub

Careful out the folks. Way too easy to spin up a Nostr Impostr. You can’t trust who you see posts from and who you think you’re talking to.

I ran into the same problem. The way I distinguish the real one from the fakes was checking the number of followers (but this may not be foolproof)

🧠 What Kind of Bitcoiner Are You?

There’s no single kind of Bitcoiner.

Some of us are here for the money.

Some for the mission.

Some stumbled in through mining, memes, or Michael Saylor.

Some came for the yield—and stayed for the ethos.

Some stack quietly. Others preach. Some build.

Me?

I used to wander through Web3—curious, hopeful, but unsettled.

Now I’m anchored. Not perfect, not loud, but aligned.

I trade equities. I stack sats. I tithe in Bitcoin.

I believe Proof of Work isn’t just a protocol—it’s a posture.

I’ve been developing software for over 35 years—but I’ve yet to touch Bitcoin Core.

I’d like to.

And maybe that’s part of the journey too.

So I’m asking—not to judge, but to learn:

What kind of Bitcoiner are you?
