This dude trying to sink CTV?
Who's championing activating OP_CAT?

Makes sense, seems like a browser problem not a tor problem. I strongly suspect a native app would work fine.
TLS is redundant for hidden services anyway, but accessing clearnet relays seems like it ought to "just work" unless it's a problem with the cert CN when accessed over tor.
Can anyone summarize the outbox vs inbox nostr models?
I assume in the "outbox" model you publish to one (or a few) preferred relays, and in the "inbox" model you publish to as many relays as you need to reach your followers (and target audience)?
I assume in either case when you're replying to a thread you would publish to all relays relevant to the participants in the thread?
Nostr doesn't work well with tor? It seems like a relay could operate just fine as a hidden service? Afaik websockets should be fine over tor.
Browser based clients on the other hand, probably not so great.
Anyone remember killed p2pool/made it too unprofitable?
I think we're largely in agreement. The question is, does devs making Bitcoin a better medium of exchange increase or decrease the value of Saylor's stash? Given it will increase demand, it must increase the value.
If Saylor disagrees with 1 I don't know what to say, he's wrong, unless it's part of a larger strategy like I posited.
Almost certainly yes.
1. Medium of Exchange usage increases demand for Bitcoin (improving MoE requires development)
2. Software requires maintenance
3. ossificiation means the eventual death of Bitcoin
I know some debate 3 (they're wrong), 1 and 2 are self evident.
I could see a strategy where Saylor intends to capture Bitcoin and become an intermediary, but that defeats Bitcoin's core value proposition and that would (eventually) destroy it.
Not that I've seen. Absolutely beyond the pale if true, but uh, need some receipts.
I have never once simped saylor, he obviously has his own motivations (making money) which seems incongruous with this. I can construct an explanation why he might have done this, but it would seem implausible or at least unlikely.
Btw not memeable but I'm not sure if CSFS (part of LNHANCE) might be a bit dangerous. I suspect it's fine but I haven't really dived in so I can't really endorse it.
OP_INTERNALKEY (the last opcode in LNHANCE) is just a great little block space optimization with zero downside.
I'll say it then, OP_CAT scares the fuck out of me lol

Yeah that's part of why I think knowing that it can be emulated is powerful
I can try to steel man it but I've come around completely on it (was initially opposed ~2 years ago). CTV is powerful and extremely low risk.
I think it's instructive to note that CTV can be emulated right now by using throwaway keys and presigned transactions *except* that you don't have to worry about the key being thrown away and reused maliciously *and* you don't have to store the signature. Losing the presigned transaction completely hoses you, whereas with CTV you can recover it if the chain of CTV transactions is deterministic (can't think of why it wouldn't be).
Most opposition these days is "we should spend years bikeshedding the *perfect* version of CTV (TXHASH) or just completely misinformed.
I haven't seen it said but I imagine some people might say "well if you can emulate it why add CTV at all?"
1. CTV is secure whereas you have a ton of risk around key management in the presigned transaction scheme
2. CTV eliminates the storage problem for presigned transactions in well designed protocols
3. CTV is more efficient on-chain
4. CTV can be upgraded to do more, enabling it should help us figure out what we actually want out of later upgrade
It just occurred to me how much CISA benefits consolidating dust transactions.
Unfortunately, we can't just enable CISA for existing dust.
A lot of the FUD has been dispelled, my impression is people generally understand it better, and for me knowing that it's
1. very safe and conservative
2. enables a number of interesting applications
3. Can be upgraded later to address issues the "CTV is not powerful enough" crowd come up with
Makes it seem like a very good candidate for adoption. nostr:nprofile1qy2hwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyv9kh2uewd9hj7qgawaehxw309ahx7um5wghx6at5d9h8jampd3kx2apwvdhk6tcpzemhxue69uhk2er9dchxummnw3ezumrpdejz7qpqaz9xj85cmxv8e9j9y80lvqp97crsqdu2fpu3srwthd99qfu9qsgsaz04hz always talks about wanting vaults, well CTV gives us vaults all by itself (though OP_VAULT+CTV is better). https://github.com/jamesob/simple-ctv-vault It's probably worth activating CTV just for vaults alone tbh.
I do think CISA is worthwhile but CTV is essentially ready. CISA is a research project.
Sheesh, how long are we going to go sideways for?... #Bitcoin #price #pricetalk

Bad #OP_CAT !

There's also a channel on irc, though even back in the early 2010s it was pretty dead. They recently rebranded to hyphanet so it's probably #hyphanet on libera.chat
