The time has finally come for us to unveil our website 🚨 https://Nostr.Report 🚨!!! This site will serve a few functions for the Nostr Report:

1. 🚨 BREAKING NEWS 🚨 will be the homepage which will show the latest issued note of the Nostr Report - as seen in nostr!

2. 🤡 🌍 News which will be a snapshot of the latest articles as presented from our most favorite MSM websites like CNBC, CNN, Bloomberg, CBS, Reuters, etc.

3. Special Content: You will also be able to find all of our special content like our Opeds as well as everyones favorite - the Nostrica on the ground reporting from #[0]

4. Archives: You can now browse all of our previous posts in chronological order from January 24, 2023 to today!

The look and feel of this website would not have been achievable without a special https://nostr.band widget created by #[1]. Without this widget, we would not be able to replicate the look and feel of the nostr experience on a website.

Our hope is that you share this with all of your friends both within nostr, but especially outside of nostr. With this HTML readable format, anyone can see what is going on on nostr without actually having to have an account. The hope is that people like what they see, and eventually get their own private key to start participating in the network 🙏.

We will continue posting our daily news report on nostr just as we have done for 3 months now. We all believe that the in-platform experience of the Nostr Report is what makes this unique, and we do not want to lose that.

This is just the beginning!!! We still have a lot of ideas of how we can build this website out and are open to suggestions.

We are humbled by the support we have received from the nostr community and cant wait to continue BUIDLing toward the future.

If anyone has seen my voice, please tell it I am in San José, and I need it.

With that small cry for help, let's get this recap started. First, I apologize for being late with this report. I promise it will be super juicy!

Let me begin by sharing a bit of myself with all of you, as I said yesterday during NIPs IRL. I've always felt like no one wants to hear what I have to say, but #[2] , who is THE MOST AMAZING videographer I've ever met, opened my mind a lot last night with her words. Therefore, I am here to share.

I grew up in a small town called Liberia, in the northern part of Costa Rica. opportunities don’t reach those of us outside the Central Valley as easily. Being allowed to be opinionated is frowned upon. Therefore, I never imagined having the chance to impact so many lives.

I do not lie when I say I pinch myself daily to ensure this is real. Watching all of you Nostriches come to my home, enjoy it, pack it up with such good vibes, and being able to talk to all of you is a blessing.

Having someone approach me and thank me for my work is not normal. It's even less normal to have gorgeous supermodels like #[3] ask me for my picture for their memories.

And after my chat with Nela, I will try to look less scared when things like this happen and embrace them. Thank you all for giving me a safe space to be myself.

And that was my short but sweet romantic “about me” section..

I've been spending the last few days taking mental and physical notes on what you guys would love to hear. Yesterday was a lot, but to me, a big shout out goes to those fish tacos. They had such a delicious green tomato sauce, ufff... please send the recipe.

Yesterday started with a big punch. You would think that on the last day, everyone would be tired and ready to call it a day; but #[4] was our moderator, and he just opened our closing day with all the feel-good energy needed to have a blast.

Meanwhile, on the workshop stage, we had Richard and Lee from #[5] talk about this beautiful creation of theirs we all got to experience. Let this inspire all of us to orange pill, EVERYONE. Tell them even in the jungle, bitcoin is the answer.

The day went by, and out of the blue, helicopter rider and bitcoiner of the world #[6] came to Nostrica. He and #[7] rocked the stage with a talk about the importance of Bitcoin and Nostr to keep citizens free and protected from CBDCs.

After that, lunch came, and for the first time ever, this girl was on a panel at a conference. NIPs IRL, an all women-powered discussion that covered several topics, from the importance of having a safe space to speak our minds as women, confidence, and even onboarding new content creators by telling them how easy it is to get value for value.

Everyone I had the opportunity to share that stage with, and all the questions we received from the audience, got me thinking of what else we can do and what is next to empower each other more. Thanks, #[8] , #[9] , #[10] , #[11] , #[12] , and #[13] . You are an inspiration and joy to be with.

#[14] , #[15] , #[16] , and #[17] did an audience Q&A and retrospective to close the day. A nice moment to come up with plans for Nostr and get to know each other even more. And after a tiny short break, NVK, McShane, Mads, Elidy, #[18] (remotely), and I had the honor of joining Jack on stage and doing a conference recap.

We were so happy to thank you all for your participation and to hear your suggestions for upcoming Nostrica's (maybe Nostril???) The following location is TBD. But inviting all of you to hold your own Nostr meet-ups and conferences. We appreciate your suggestions and will discuss all the notes and other stuff you gave us!

Again, thank you to everyone who made this possible. We couldn't be happier. Thanks to all the other organizers, Jack, the volunteers, and all the attendees (onsite and online)! As I said, we are all OGs it is our mission to bring more people on board and secure our freedom!

Meme connoisseurs… what are your favorite tools?

I asked our Meme Chair #[0] , #[1] and #[2] what their current stack of meme-making tools are, and here’s what they are using (primarily on iPhone, although some of these apps/tools are available on Android and desktop as well).

InShot - a workhorse for adding text to pictures and creating videos (which can later be turned to gifs). Easy to learn and simple to use. Includes auto-tracking and keyframes in video editing. Corn does most of his memes using InShot.

ImgPlay - simple editor with many features. Also, one of the easiest apps to convert videos to gifs, and to downsize gifs to smaller file size.

Retouch - tool to remove text or other objects from photos

Reface - change faces in gifs, images, and videos

CapCut - the editing tool of choice for TikTokers. Has some powerful features and special effects, but often overkill for quick Nostr memes.

Exif metadata removal for privacy - there are several websites & apps for this, including our favorite, #[3]

Gimp/Photoshop/Pixlr - more advanced desktop image editing

Remove.bg website - easy to use background removal tool

Meme templates - imgflip.com and tenor.com

Image hosting - nostr.build

A few tips:

After you get a link for your image on nostr.build, save the URL in the “caption” area of the photo in your photo album for future use, or better yet, sign up for a nostr.build account and you will be able to see all of your uploads in a private folder. Plans range from 21,000 to 100,000 sats.

Add useful sites to your homepage or add bookmarks for quick access.

#Nostrica Day 3 Recap

It’s been an incredible 3 days of #Nostrica, even for the virtual attendees. Thank you to the virtual conference team that helped make it so seamless! Be sure to check our note at the end about the nym badges that helped protect nym identities from the video streams.

On the final day, we got to hear from #[4] who discussed Content and Moderation on Nostr. He shared impressive metrics including ~2,500 unique visitors per day, ~100 video uploads per day, +110k total unique uploads, +100 accounts sold with ~2,300 uploads. He also discussed interesting content moderation decisions, and brought up a community content review process. Finally, Nostr.Build previewed the new Nostr.Build website, which looks incredible!

Next up #[5] , #[6] , #[7] , and “Future Paul” (npub unknown) gave us recent updates on clients, relays, and the Nostr protocol. Nostr bounties were discussed and can be found at https://bountsr.org/ or nostrbounties.com (nostr native). Nostr integrations are now available on #[8] , Fountain, Cashu, and #[9] . Projects such as Primal.net, Nostore, were also discussed.

Next up #[10] got on stage to discuss funding of projects on Nostr, venture capital, and different business models.

#[11] discussed non social media use cases for Nostr, which he thinks are an accelerator for bitcoin adoption.

Next #[12] and #[13] discussed the importance of Nostr on nation state adoption.

After the lunch break, #[14] , from the Human Rights Foundation’s Bitcoin Development Fund, discussed how bitcoin and open protocols can be used to help the oppressed in countries with authoritarian regimes and closed societies.

Next up was “NIPS IRL”, a panel of women of Nostr including #[15] , #[16] , #[17] , #[18] , #[19] , and NostReport’s very own #[20] . Some important topics discussed include how do we onboard more women to Nostr, how do we make Nostr more accessible to everyone, orange-pilling through Nostr and Roya’s orange-pill moment, the difference between using Nostr versus Twitter, and the future of Nostr.

#[21] and #[22] from https://www.nos.social/ got onstage and discussed their concept of “Decent Nostr”, as well as building a client to protect the most vulnerable and disadvantaged, as well as protecting journalists and citizens of authoritarian regimes.

#[23] , #[24] , and #[25] took the stage for a discussion panel on NIPs in general, including quite a bit of talk about Delegated Event Signing, defined in NIP-26.

#[26] led a panel for audience Q&A, along with #[27] , #[28] , #[29] , #[30] .

The final panel of the day, and of this year’s conference, was titled Nostrica Retrospective & Planning the Next Nostr Unconference, and discussed highlights of this conference and possibilities for future conferences. This panel featured #[31] , #[32] , #[33] , #[34] , #[35] , #[36] , #[37] , #[38] , and #[39] .

Keep an eye out for a final report from onsite NostReporter, #[40] , as this year’s conference comes to a close. In the meantime, here are a couple of interesting facts we learned today:
