Nostr not using S3-compatible API's by default is so retarded. They invented their own different way which was not needed. S3 is the standard for cloud storage.

It really bothers me that we now have data center-class internet connections at home compared to the ones in the 90s. Storage is cheap, and text messages are small. So why is this problem still not solved? Why is it so difficult to solve storage using P2P?

Nice sentiment but relays are servers too. Except they have no guarantee to store your data, just relay data from one user to another. Most likely on a relay your data will get nuked. Servers allow signing, and verification, it's just not all that common. It would be nice if the phone was the cloud, but generally you want a cloud to be always-on, so phones are not the cloud, at least not today. I would like the phone to be the cloud, but nobody has said how that can happen, in practice.

the vast majority of applications still need backend servers for processing. i run an application with over 100 application, web, and database servers for just production. there's no was in hell it would ever function without servers.

2. Somehow we have to make it sustainable. But hosting these cost money. So at the end, you have to compete with "free" solutions.

Somehow the hard part for me seems that as a content creator e.g., it does not only depend on you.

My son is 15 years old today. I remember the day he was born, just like it was yesterday 🥹 It was the scariest and most exciting day of my life.

Being a parent is incredibly rewarding, but also incredibly hard at times too. He wanted an electric scooter for his birthday. We got him one. He's currently riding it all over the place. I am scared to death that he's going to get hit by a car. I probably worry too much.

I've been meaning to try android and graphene OS. Bear with me because this might be a silly question: is it possible to fool around with it and get comfortable before moving my phone number over to it? (I.e. if it's not connected to a phone number right away, can I still experiment with apps?)

The problematic part is, you can't control which relays people use.

If there are 5 relays running decent, and they censor someone/a note, it will be censored for most.

So I think you need either the need on readers/viewers side to combat censorship, or clients shall have better discovering feature that shows you the person who you follow even if, it got censored on the relays you follow. Or at least it reports you, that you might want to add this relay to your list, because others censored your followed person.
