bitcoins aren't gold, shock!
gold isn't "gold" either. gold has many societal structures that mold its use.
bitcoin is likewise a social structure. that happens to have monetary value because of reasons.
feel kind of stupid just now realizing i could use Rabbit's search column to find specific notes and events.
it did feel like there was a gap in basic Nostr functionality, but the gap was actually in my understanding, heh.
#rabbit
omg, i love firesky.tv
it's rather reassuring seeing so much random crap.
absolutely wild. this is to ground the wire?
the Reserve Bank of Australia has been laying the foundation for a transition to CBDCs for a while now, first by pointing out, correctly i believe, that Australians are using less and less cash, then noting a general interest in cryptocurrencies, and finally noting that crypto falls short of being "money" in the traditional sense...
of course while ignoring the fact that a "stable fiat currency" is a fiction if it's also inflating.
there is, at the very least, been some retail adoption of crypto in parts of the country, North Queensland in particular, with BCH being the bitcoin of choice.
Welp, it happened https://github.com/chromium/chromium/commit/6f47a22906b2899412e79a2727355efa9cc8f5bd DRM for the web is upon us.
Protip: stay away from Chrome and all Chrome-based browsers
motherfucker.
didn't think it would start this quickly, but i guess i'm not surprised either.
oh hi Firefox, nice to see you again.
Nostr has revitalized my love of the web.
it's refreshing to see so many weird internet natives getting passionate about things and iterating so quickly.
i've never really been a 'social media' type. the goal for people in many networks is to BE SEEN and SAY THE COOL THING and that's just really boring to me.
though i almost exclusively use it like a bird.
i like when Nostr is used like a 'chat' rather than an 'X/Twitter.'
freedom doesn't give a fuck about your feelings.
nakedness is not sexual.
sexuality is personal (or societal) context given to nakedness.
bitcoin is about value, not money.
we're just so used to equating the two...
i have been salting my watermelon for yeeears, so it was even more stunning that i had not salted other fruit.
thinking on it more, i've heard of salted pineapple and mango as well, and still the larger concept eluded me.
a close friend just revealed to me that they salt their sliced apple and i feel like i've been living incorrectly my whole life.
will check it out!
the Dopefish used to scare the shit out of me as a kid, fun to see it's replacement is positively nightmarish lol
