Most people on android use Amythest which is available on play list. Make sure to follow nostr:npub1gcxzte5zlkncx26j68ez60fzkvtkm9e0vrwdcvsjakxf9mu9qewqlfnj5z as he will often post incremental updates that are not always automatically updated via play store
Verification on nostr is a bit different. One method is to go to nostrplebs.com and purchase a NIP05 verification. Cost is variable depending on length of name but it is relatively cheap regardless.
The best way to get involved is to post and comment! Lots of creators and innovators are here. Just comment and send notes ("tweet") nearly everyone is happy to interact.
You can find several different hashtags and subscribe to those to find new followers for your feed. You can also check the global feed but know that this is an open uncensored protocol so be warned there's always a chance you see questionable things.
Anyways, your feed will be composed of real time posts from those you follow so curate your feed, YOU are the algo!
And one final advice, set up your lightning address so people can zap you and you can zap back! It's half the fun of nostr!
