it would have been more difficult had I not stolen Lemmy's activitypub code, I actually walked into their matrix server and asked a few questions and some of the devs answered them which led me to getting things working so that's cool I guess? :marseyglow:

No, can't talk to people on my instances yet (still trying to get them to talk to each other first lol). I was able to get a remote board fetched though which is a huge first step but now there are other errors I am working through

ok so I just verified that webfinger is working with my project now, and I was able to get one test instance to request a remote group from the other test instance and try to insert it into the local database so I am pretty hyped :marseyexcited:
just need to do a few more adjustments and I will have pretty much enabled the project to be able to fetch remote boards/users from other instances (which in turn should enable the other user actions like subscribing to boards, users, posting on remote instances, etc)

Today I learned that for a lemmy server to federate with another lemmy server, a user needs to request a user/board on the remote instance so that it is "discovered" by the local instance. Sorta seems dumb idk :marseykneel:
