Agreed, BUT: in my opinion they should fix the DMs first. Seriously, I don't get why they haven't implemented it yet. The DM-situation is a mess on these clients. I can see new people on Nostr being very pissed off when they realize that whole Nostr (and everyone outside by just looking into it) knows that one has contacted a sex-worker, human rights organization, a political party or what not. If you have no other use for Orbot than just Amethyst you could remove it in theory, but routing through Orbot might possibly be more safe and reliable. It doesn't depend on the settings you have made in Amethyst and routs EVERYTHING through Tor or nothing. I personally never felt safe with built-in Tor-Daemons. If you're in a high-risk environment I would choose Orbot as Always-On-VPN but if you just don't want that every relay knows your IP, the internal Tor daemon might be a good way to go.
There you can switch between the internal Tor deamon which is built right into Amethyst or you can use an app like Orbot which is a Tor-Proxy. It's your choice.
I'm afraid I can't give you the answer to this anymore. Got rid of my iPhone today. Maybe others can answer.
