Oh i can more than relate to the thingiverse browsing part 😂

The best stuff i made are some articulate animals for my kids, and another set for the kids of a friend. They are all made of glow in the dark filament and became instant favourite for all of them. Now i’m printing an Enterprise class spaceship from Star Trek for my son’s birthday (he’s living the space period of his life RN).

I got a second-hand 3D printer from a friend today! I’m pretty excited to start making stuff with it. I’m thinking about making some toys for my toddler (are there any good ways to recycle PLA?) as well as useful stuff for around the house. Like I know I need to replace a knob on my camp stove and I already found a model for that. I’m also planning to get some Meshtastic LoRa boards and I’ll probably print a case for those too.

If you have a 3D printer let me know what your favorite prints are!

Just nudged my #RPG party off their own beaten track using a headhunter’s pet (like a mage’s familiar, the headhunter can see/hear through the pet). They haven’t met the headhunter yet, just the pet, who is following them everywhere from a safe distance. The party is so fixated on who could have sent the pet and how to get rid of it that they totally forgot why they are in the city, and the Big Bad can happily continue scheming while they are doing all the research.

I feel a bit bad for them… #EvilGM #CypherSystem

yes, i’d totally prefer that over the current, (seemingly) monotone increasing number; I mean, if the biggest kind number i ever saw is 63, how should i know if someone else is already working on a NIP with a kind 64 or if i can use it in mine?

I said this before and will say it again: The most underrated feature of Nostr is the event kind as Integer and not a String.

That simple choice alone is the reason why Nostr apps are MUCH more interoperable than any other signing standard.

I worked for 3 years with Verifiable Credentials where schemas and types are strings. There is no real interoperability between Verifiable Credentials. Everyone just creates their own names/types and fuck everybody else. There is no effort to reuse names somebody else is already using and/or to standardize what values those names take. You can verify the signature, but you don't know what the signed payload means or does unless you go talk to the issuer directly.

String types create the false impression of documenting what the type is without having to write it down somewhere else. Nostr's integer kinds require you to explain what you are doing in some other place than the type name itself. And that creates a possibility to explain the entire sematics of what your type is doing.

It's just a better "system" for real interoperability.

The only problem i see with this is itʼs easy to have two cempletely different NIPs that use the same kind number; with textual IDs itʼs hard (although not impossible) to do that.

I made some kids toys, some RPG minis (also tried dice, but those didnʼt come out great), and some gadgets for my home like cable organizer's, towel hooks, a wall mount for a mirror, and the likes.

I know no way to recycle PLA (as in, you canʼt reliably make filament out of the cutoff and failed prints). Some say you can melt it and cast it using silicone moulds, but never tried it myself.
