This is my entire toolkit.

Clearly I didn’t grow up with a dad around.

No one ever taught me how to build things.

My building skills are probably just as disappointing as my toolkit.

Makes me think…

What if I just buy a piece of land somewhere on this beautiful island…

And build a house.

By myself.

Would I be capable of doing it?

The combo of 1) people getting sucked into digital echo chambers and 2) people believing hallucinating AI answers without checking, is going to take a lot to change.

We are in an environment where if things *look* official enough, we’ll usually just instantly believe them. Since nobody has the time or inclination to check everything.

Like, someone can just tweet a picture of me at a conference, and put a quote next to it, and tons of people will take it at face value. People won’t stop and ask “is this actually a quote of hers from this conference?” It could be years ago, out of context, or not said by me at all, but one would never know since it seemed legit enough.

The current counter to this is basically to assume most things are potentially wrong in part or in full, unless further verified. But the risk there is people get detached and don’t bother researching things.

One thing you can do is go through your follow list and remove people/entities who don’t have a high signal ratio. In other words, keep people you agree or disagree with that are locked in and high signal, but remove those who parrot things they don’t understand or spread misinformation on a regular basis.

In an environment of endless quantity, it is more important than ever to elevate quality.

Seems like less and less people like to discuss or debate issues on here. Nostr is loaded with “number go up, bitcoin will fix everything” echo chamber. Makes me sad.

The beauty of bitcoin is the simplicity of its design.

There will only ever be 21 million bitcoin.

Blocks come in every ~10 minutes.

The difficulty adjusts every 2,016 blocks.

The block subsidy gets cut in half every 210,000 blocks.

Blockspace is limited.

A transaction must be valid to get included in a block.

In a hyper-financialized and centrally planned global economy bitcoin's simplicity is counterintuitive.

"Monetary systems are complex. It can't be this easy."

Not only CAN money be simple, but it SHOULD be simple. We've been brought up in a counterproductive centralized system and humanity has succeeded in many areas in spite of the central planners.

Imagine what we'll be able to do when the central planners are replaced with a simple, neutral and incorruptible permissionless monetary network. Those who abide by and adapt around bitcoin's simple rule set will be able to coordinate economic activity with orders of magnitude more certainty than they have today.

No more guessing about what the Fed will do, how much debt the Treasury plans on issuing or whether or not capital controls will be turned on like a light switch.

That all goes away under a Bitcoin Standard.
