working on getalby.com - a browser extension with lightning and Nostr support

Hey, I guess you will also get the info. We're compiling some more details because we actually also have some quite nice new improvements for people to get started.

And we think the Alby Hub is the best way forward to put the user in control.

Do you talk about the self-custodial Alby Hub wallet or the shared wallet?

if you have sats on the shared wallet you can move them out. how much do you have left?

nothing changes there. we need to publish more information. but don't worry

check damus and make sure you're also on the latest version of damus.

nostr:npub16secklpnqey3el04fy2drfftsz5k26zlwdsnz84wtul2luwj8fdsugjdxk not sure if my note went through.

The great thing about Bitcoind and deflationary currencies is that the amounts get lower when the purchasing power rises.

This will happen here, too.

We learn a lot on how we as company and users can live on a bitcoin standard.

nostr:npub1zadwm4eup96qmqswl7h0zw4ltxl3car3ef5ufarq6c3w3r7d6snql57r8p what damus version are you using? There has been some update recently related to how zaps are validated.

I could zap you, the payment is sent and the zap receiped is published.

We work hard on making it as easy as possible for users and we think the tech is right to manage to do this now.

People should own their own keys, and should own their own money.

It comes with great power but it will be a bit harder than relying on others.

But people will have to move.

And we also think with NWC as a spec now users will also have the possibility to choose the service that they like best.

Sats should not be stuck and here I am pretty sure that this error can be fixed.

It's still the pain of early adopters. We've come along way and people are able to run a node 😉 we'll get there. It takes work and time, but I am confident that together as a community we can build great things for everyone.

Tell me about it. I'm pretty sure I'm responsible for over 20 feeds right now. Uugghh 🙁

Albyhub is too expensive for me (10,500 sats / month ($9.23))

Luckily I have my node set up but there are a lot of ppl who don't

what's your recommendation or ideal scenario?

As I read your messages you think people should be in control and we want to decentralize as much as possible, correct?

We have hubs that run for 5+ podcasters. Do you think that's too expensive?

I also hope that hosters themself see a opportunity here.

We've been pushing in that direction for a while, it will take time. We put a lot of effort in being backwards compatible which also means no feeds must be updated for the time being.

It's ultimately a question of being self-sovereign and in full control. This might have the downside that you need to put some resources in, but it gives you full independence and control.

Otherwise one is relying on others putting those resources in and if something changes one might be dependent.

With Alby Hub we build a usable way to be self-sovereign and in control.

Hey nostr:nprofile1qyt8wumn8ghj7etyv4hzumn0wd68ytnvv9hxgtcpr3mhxue69uhkummnw3ez6vfwde3x7tnpdenkzmnf9e3k7tcpremhxue69uhkummnw3ez6ur4vgh8wetvd3hhyer9wghxuet59uq3xamnwvaz7tmsw4e8qmr9wpskwtn9wvhsz9mhwden5te0wfjkccte9ehx7um5wghxyctwvshsqgzx2l0739jmazvq4yc8908mtev6v5fygpkmp7qey90w0zay0y6t8cglkjgg I know, I could post a "feature request" on your dedicated website, but first I want to ask here:

If a user run an Alby Hub with a cashu mint backend, will be interesting to have an easy way to switch between mints, in case one mint is failing. Without being necessary to start again the whole process of setup the hub.

Yes I know, the balance is not the same, but is not about that, is about to switch quick and easy a funding source for a hub.

Interesting one. So you mean a setting to basically change the mint, correct?

sorry. I thought nostr:npub18u0kz84lj5tzmgywwdu4mhaa8ghtlednahqyj56kqv408lf9r23qgnlumk was in the thread.

The issue with emptying a lighting wallet are the lighting fees which are hard to know upfront and there are related attack vectors to steal funds.

Thus probably all lightning wallets require a small reserve based on the amount you try to send and this sadly makes it hard to send the last sat sometimes.

If you have issues contact support and I am sure you get the sats in no time.

can you explain "captured" - as we put a lot of work in to put users in control. With the Alby Hub, the work on NWC as a protocol, etc.

feedback is appreciated.

aaaand, to give users options we also put a lot of work in to make Alby Hub run everywhere (e.g. on a tiny, cheap Pi)

there is a lot that is being done, so we appreciate your support and time.

btw. prices will be adjusted for sure.

We're learning a lot there also on how as a company and customers we can be on a bitcoin standard. 😉
