Yup.. a good analogy is that bitcoin is like humanity's electronic antlers. It allows us to physically compete using non-lethal electric power to establish a secure dominance hierarchy without relying on trusted third parties to settle disputes. Traditional war is like fangs and claws, soft war (bitcoin) is like antlers.
Hehe... you could look at it that way... its because nations engage in a kinetic proof-of-work protocol we call warfare to ensure it remains decentralized.
Bitcoin is simply the exact same think in a non-lethal electric form and instead of competing for control of kinetic based resources people are competing for control over bits of information.

Bitcoin is a physical-power-based resource control structure that is creating the largest physical-power-based dominance hierarchy our planet has ever seen. The bitcoin protocol is perfectly egalitarian meaning all entities get to participate. Governments have access to lots of power (watts), and will naturally be higher in the dominance hierarchy. This is completely natural and unavoidable.
