Yes, much better. 🧡

Earlier this year, I delivered a prez on the evolution of the Bitcoin logo and symbol by analysing the discussions on the Bitcointalk forum during that time. Nakamoto initially designed the first ‘skeuomorphic’ BC coin and the next version based on the “B” with a double strike-through.

However, it was Bitboy the designer (not the influencer) who created the minimalist, orange, flat design that is still in use today. I believe the original colors were likely intended as a nod to gold coins.

"Salt, sea and air are we

who wander 'cross the globe,

Yet tale be told and night behold

the hour my shadow froze

Voyage set as those before

crate packing merrily,

We pushed from port forevermore

but unbeknownst to me

The tide set high, vessel set sail

sun skipping on the waves,

How can it be this shining sea

is also host to graves?

My thoughts turned bright and chest filled tight

with heaven’s purest wind,

A red sky rose to our delight

a gift from our glowing friend

The crew at ease with such degrees

our latitude assured,

Our gullets soaked in God’s brown ale

went sleeping filled with his word

But ‘ere the cover of the night

cast horrors yet unseen,

Water frothed and shook about

as souls rose from beneath to feed

A cry rang from the crow’s nest

and I, but half awake,

Rose to face with hazy grace

the threat my life to take

Yet we were unprepared as such

for on what our eyes did gaze,

the dripping apparitions

cast from the ocean’s deepest graves

Our fortune set to rising

the dawn began to wake,

but it eclipsed and so we missed

the chance our souls to save

The crescent of the orb

shown behind the cold moon rock,

Not enough glory to command

our banshees to stop

They swept throughout the vessel

the crew they petrified,

Covered in a binding frost

Yet somehow I survived!

The soul it did not see me

and in a manner I don’t claim to know,

Protruding light concealed my bones

and curse was cast upon my shadow

At last the light awakened

gulls called out to the day,

alone I sat upon the deck

all hands were swept away

Though the sun it blistered

on my back it bluntly shined,

As I stared upon the planks

I was lacking in an outline

Feeling as half a man

revenge grabbed hold my heart,

I would wait for those savage souls

and take back my shadow in the dark

As night sank in, once again

those spooks rose up to feed,

and surprised they were, as with my torch

I sought what belonged to me

Alas I found it nowhere

but the spooks I recognized,

They were my own crew from before

yet in their damned disguise

I was born a fighter

a sailor second best,

So sailing about forevermore, I roam

till my outline sinks back into my chest."

Red sky at night, sailor's delight.

Red sky in the morning, sailor's warning.

The ‘Emoji Standard & Research Working Group’ receives the submissions, and there is a guideline they use. But noted, will look to write a little more on it. I know that there was a petition to submit Bitcoin as an emoji this year, but cannot find it in the submissions. Will look into it. 🙂

Watched Stewart interview Lagarde last night about “exactly what causes inflation.” Lots of talk from Lagarde about Covid, supply chains, and rising gas prices in Europe due to war.

Number of mentions of QE:

Jon: 1

Lagarde: 0

She didn’t take the bait. It’s almost like we’re meant to think that money supply has nothing to do with inflation…

Very cool. I geek out over symbols.

So much so, that I signed up to the Unicode Consortium awhile back.

So now I get a preview of the new emojis released each year.

Coming soon to your mobile keyboard: ‘face with bags under eyes’, ‘splatter’, ‘shovel’, and ‘harp’.

Seems on point for 2024. 😱

And here’s the spreadsheet of emojis sorted by how often they get used…

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Zs13WJYdZL1pNZP0dCIXkWau_tZOjK3mmJz0KNq4I30/edit?gid=196891844#gid=196891844

The most used is 😂 beating out ❤️.

The least often used is 🦳! Which I had to look up what it is supposed to me, it’s “white hair style”. Followed by ‘bald hair style’ 🦲. Followed by small island country flags…

Do those hairstyle emojis make any sense to anybody, apparently not!

And yet, they were approved by the Unicode standard. Proving there’s always room for white and bald hair styles. 😂❤️

But also. DYOR on any political news sources. I personally get my news from sources that [admittedly] confirm my worldview but I also seek out and respectfully read/watch that which makes me uncomfortable. Both have value. Perhaps the latter moreso.

Otherwise, we're all just living in a media bubble (aka algo).

Love the nostalgic aEstheTiCs. ♥️

However. Looking into it, it's not even ironic - has kept the same 90s web look for the last 3 decades.

Perhaps our past, is our future.

Let’s reboot - simpler, fewer distractions, more focus.

Looked it up - Infowars.com could *possibly* fetch up to $30m, based on current website traffic + domain valuation calculators.

But that's just numbers, the websites' associative liabilities [DYOR] would render it relatively worthless. It's a burnt domain.

Sometimes land gets too scorched to bring back.

Nature's way.

Not a fan of Meta generally, but they’ve been leading in open-source AI. And yes, I understand how counterintuitive that seems - perhaps Zuck is chasing his 'redemption arc'.

They released LLaMA over a year ago, which is their open-source family of large language models - considered to be best-in-class for research, efficiency, and accessibility, compared to other open-source models like GPT-3 and even proprietary models like GPT-4 [which was the leading model up until the more recent 4o + o1].

"...perfection only lives in little moments. Can't be sustained over hours; just instances, you know. Little wisps of time, and the world becomes imperfect again."

Who doesn’t love magic internet coffee?

Unless you’re both programmers + gamers, in which case they are at the top.
