I goto the pool 5 days a week with my daughter who just turned 3 and can already swim better than most kids who are 5. It wasn’t an accident - we put in a lot effort to have fun and work on skills. She’s never once been in swimmies and there’s no “shallow” area in our pool except the stairs. Most parents look at us sideways for not using swimmies but I’m willing to put in the effort to play her and supervise her 100% of the time

Life pro tip: 99% of other parents advice is trash. Most parents are actually awful and set themselves up for failure by doing what's convenient at the time, having no forethought about incentives they create ,etc...

For example - at our pool nobody works with their kid to teach them to swim. They throw their kids in swimmies and go off to drink / socialize. There are kids that are 4-5 years old that can't swim because nobody works to develop the skills. Another example, "my kid is a picky eater". That's because you bend the knee every time to their requests, let them snack on bullshit fiat food all day, etc. If i only let my kid eat pizza they'd also be a shit eater. You're an idiot and have created a shit eater. The examples of poor / thoughtless parenting is endless here i just want to get one point across very clearly here: be a thoughtful parent. Do the hard things because in the long term you'll be thankful (as well as your kid and everyone they come in contact with) that you invested the time, energy and love to create shape your child into the best possible human being you could.
