he is referring to the red dot, happens often after receiving zaps, it stays there even after checking the event.

Today a friend asked me what could she do to find out if someone was accessing her laptop on remote without her noticing.

I asked her, Do you require remote connection at all? Do you ever use it?

She answered, not needed, never use it.

So I recommended her to configure her Windows firewall to block incoming RDP connections by default by creating a new inbound rule and blocking the TCP port 3389, no white listed IPs neither, all blocked by default.

She did it, but she still feels uneasy about hackers getting into her PC on remote... A recent really bad experience I suppose...

She asked me if there was not a tool that will monitor network activity and let her know if there was an attempted intrusion, I told her that is what the firewall is for and it does a good job, problem is that people click and download all kind of s#%& without verifying or caring much, getting the software that hack them right in their laptops themselves. Oh, and I suggested she moved to Linux (she didn't like that)

She was saying, I want a notification pop when an intrusion attempt is detected...

For a noob like her, What other recommendations or simple tools (FOSS better) do you guys think she could use to feel safer? You guys think my recommendation is enough?

AFAIK besides #0XChat only Alby, but I have not tested Alby with that function yet, just read it supports it.

Did you know that #0xChat Nostr client has one of the most advanved wallets built in?

The wallet on top of a very convenient mint swap capability, it has as well coin control built in, which is a great feature to have:

Additionally, you have a p2pk section, where you can lock by npub the receiver (no one else will be able to claim the eCash, you need a wallet that supports it), and you can even select yourself as a refund receiver in case the tokens are not claimed. You can add an expiration timer as well.

Have you tried eCash Mint swaps in #0XChat built in wallet?

Swapping between mints without touching the LN⚑, smooth and fast! The UI is simple, with an efficient and smart design and the cherry on top: good looking πŸ”₯

Getting in love with this app, encrypted chats (labeled "Secrect Chats" as in TG, well done), encrypted voice calls, video calls, switch between voice and video as needed, groups, channels, ❀️‍πŸ”₯πŸ”₯❀️‍πŸ”₯

This world is seriously going mad, so many war mongers, sad to watch

At least many of those fascist war mongers are not shy at all, nowadays is easy to spot them and thus, separate the wheat from the shaff

Awesome news!

How do you import the text copied from the backup?

Was looking into it but there is only the seed import in recovery unless I missed something. Did I?

I will suggest instead of copy is saving a text file encrypted with the nsec signature (make the user sign it)

and the recovery the same, an import of the text file.

Awesome wallet, this wallet is my favorite one so far for #Nostr, you guys are doing an awesome job, keep it up!

"the proof is in the pudding"

We are watching already the push back, the regulations, the prosecution of hard core libertarians like the developers of Samurai Wallet, we watched how Phoenix Wallet & Wallet of Satoshi left the USA market hoping to avoid the same ending, Wasabi closed their mixer, and so on...

at this pace, doesn't take a genius to forecast the pressure will increase for regulation and its use only using KYCd services regulated and all and each of the mined sats so far accounted for and authorized for spending...

At this moment, impossible to enforce worldwide, but few totalitarian countries; specially the ones that sell themselves as democracies; are moving quite fast to a 100% control of BTC spending, the ETF was step three (done), step two was infiltration of mining corps (done), step one was control and regulation and removal of exchanges that can't be controlled 100% (done),

Next steps? Probably infiltration of core devs (stay tune for some of them proposing some very controversial BIPs...), getting VISA, Master Card and Amex to integrate themselves with the Bitcoin Blockchain to serve as a firewall for non KYC payments...

All while they keep amazing and buying it, for it is the best investment out there.

How we fight back?, l think hard core libertarians are part of the problem, it is a two tier fight, one side is legal/political, the other is development satoshi style, removing your ego from the scene, most developers are quite fond of recognition and therefore is a hard task.
