Before this last storm cycle the Jasper Townsite had great sundog viewing. Sundog (or parhelion) are pairs of rainbow circles or arcs that appear on either side of the sun from cirrostratus or moist valley clouds (and can often foretell stormy weather soon!). #MyJasper

Scattered across Jasper National Park are many odd looking cages that have been put in place to compare vegetation with and without animal grazing. Some of these plots have been in place since the 1940s and help biologists to determine the relationship between the plants and wild beasties that call the park home. #MyJasper #CanadianRockies

Another new offering for Summer 2024. For those short on time looking to explore Cairn Pass along Jasper's South Boundary Trail, check out this helicopter assisted 4 day trip. Our adventure starts flying into Rocky Pass, just outside of the Jasper Park boundary, travels along the Medicine Tent River over Cairn Pass, and finishes with a helicopter-pickup near the lower Southesk River.
