Oddly, not many people have mentioned that recently....
There's a few easy methods. First off, good luck stopping deer with that. They'll probably jump over it. Scent caps may help....maybe.
As for testing voltage, make sure your energizer is grounded good enough first. Ideally you have a volt meter for fences to check it, but if not....
Take an insulated jumper with the clips, connect one end to a short steel spike, fence, etc: a decent ground of some kind, not the energizer ground rod. Move the other clip towards the energized fence and try to watch for a spark. It should jump at least 1/4" from the wire to the clip. the same method can be used with a steel spike on a fence post (with an INSULTED grip).
If the wire isn't chewed up, it's probably physically okay. Not much else to check really.
But how many can identify the man in the picture....
Beautiful. It was visible even farther south than you, but we didn't get a show that spectacular.
Tonight, make sure you look all around. We could see spots and stripes directly overhead and towards the Eastern horizon.
This is a long article, but very good.
This article is amazing. Thanks for sharing.
This was neat. I love it that you're writing about old stories like this: you are doing your part to carry on traditions and share them with future generations.
Keep up the good work.

You might want to think about that.
Maybe so. The 2.4' spike those tiny chargers cane with didn't work well in dry areas. In my case, I had the fence with a very low bottom row. Sheep/goat on two rolls and poultry on another. That made it just about worthless on grass over a couple inches tall. Been using 4 stands of poly wire lately with mixed success. Easier to run anyway.
Gallagher B200's are nice. Put a smaller battery and it isn't too bad. Lost one of two (maybe) over 6-7 years. Premier's .5 joule smart charger died much faster, in part due to the stupid plastic panel face.
What speedright do you have? I need a replacement.
Awesome. Been wanting to set this up at my place, hadn't made the effort yet. Biggest scam out there is small lot = small production.
Keep it up,can't wait to see more updates. Maybe you'll rub off on me....
I just read some stuff from Tu Lam online. He emphasizes the importance of meditation each morning. I feel that I need to try it.
Disciplining myself is the hard thing.
Very true. Most often our problem is our prospective. We need to accept the responsibility for our condition and then make a change. It's very easy to blame somebody else: far easier than forging our own path and finding the way.
I 3D printed a soil block maker over the weekend, and I'm giving it a try now. Seems to work pretty well once you dial in the moisture content of your soil mix. Time will tell how durable it is (I only used 40% infill to save time and materials on this one), but it's basically just an experiment for us to see if we can incorporate soil blocks into our growing. If it works out, I can invest in a larger/more durable one.

This is the file I used (it's not my design) if you're interested in making one of your own:

Good idea. That would be handy.
Net fencing, great fun!
I'm curious, what length of run and what size charger? I never had much success with that stuff. Grass was too much of a load for the .5 joule and sometimes .8 joule for my 150' or there about.
I have used Startpage before. It's still a Google front end, so don't expect unbiased results. That's the biggest issue I know of.
Next problem is that you're still using Google. A layer of privacy, I suppose, but it still makes use of and in a way, supports Google.
