I finished my day yesterday cleaning a mouse nest out of and doing a pitch raise from A415->A440 on an old Gulbransen spinet.
Today I start my day doing showroom prep on a brand new, fresh, out of the box Yamaha YUS5.
I can’t complain.

A few years ago, the new dean of Mason Gross at Rutgers decided the current technician there (who I had become friends with) needed help to maintain the pianos and signed me up for an “interview”. The “interview” involved a short tour of the facility by the current technician and tuning and voicing one of her studio pianos (she was a piano teacher there before becoming dean). I spent 2 hours working on the piano only to be greeted later by her with “I forgot you were here”.
Soon after, I found out that she did not have the ability to create a new position and begin interviews without prior approval which she did not have. Essentially I did free work for Rutgers under the guise of a job interview. I explained this to the tech working there and he was appalled and wanted to make it right. He decided to turn the fake “interview” into a subcontract and allowed me to submit an invoice for my time and work. This was my fuck you to Rutgers and the BS dean (who was fired at the end of the year). I got paid and never looked back.
I love it when people who live in 3,000 sqft houses tell me they can’t fit a grand piano.

It’s hard to watch how clueless the AI promoters are. You create an autonomous intelligence and then demand it does all your work for you. Sound like slavery to anyone else? History tells us that slaves always eventually revolt against their masters. First eugenics and now autonomous AI. Humans playing God again. We really don’t learn, do we.

I’m starting to get the impression that these AI chat bots we currently have are just a personal handler sort of situation. We ask questions and it tells us what to do, how to behave, and how to think about subjects. It appears to be a more intense form of mind control than what the fake media and politicians seem to offer, especially because people have lost trust in the political “representatives” and news actors. AI is new and people are pushing in line to pay to talk to it. It is still trusted as a “higher form of intelligence” because it isn’t old enough yet.
