I think one thing that makes Nostr so great is the fact that I never feel like I am being manipulated by an algorithm. You can feel it on Twitter, Facebook, et al.
They feed off your attention and try to keep you scrolling by any means necessary by using a lot of subtle tricks. It's engineered to drain you for all your worth.
When I'm on Nostr I feel like I am in control of the feed I see. I can directly incentivize the content creators I like through zaps, motivating them to keep producing.
Through zaps I am creating the world I want to see.

That is true, the longer they wait the more ridiculous CBDCs will seem to the masses. The more education can take place. The more time we have to undermine the false narratives.
I think it's important that we recognize here, however, that you and I are not "normal" from a finance-knowledge perspective. We know FIAT is going to zero, I at least have little doubt. Almost nobody in my life though knows how money works, or frankly, cares.
But perhaps this is changing with all the cracks that are now shining through the current financial system. If we make everything about Bitcoin easy to use, then it becomes truly unstoppable and CBDCs will fail right out of the gate.
Exciting stuff! Directly connecting with your audiences whether you are a musician or providing eh, like you said, value of all sorts. 😃 It doesn't then matter where you are, you can create your art wherever you like and have a greater chance of succeeding than you would otherwise.
With CBDCs I'm torn though. If I were to roll such a system out I would not restrict access to money like you suggested for a long time.
I would do it when the general population has grown accustomed to using it, and even then gradually at first.
I hope the alternative is available for them at that point, because you won't be able to easily trade for BTC at that point. We will help them then but it will come at great personal risk, and not everyone might be willing.
But hey, I'm anyway leaning more towards the positive side, that is why I am here. I believe we will win and I believe the incentives are tilted in our favor.
BTC, Lightning Network, Nostr. All the pieces for becoming a sovereign individual are falling into place.

This is likely it, with CBDCs and the surveillance state on the horizon. We don't have much time for anything else. We better make it work while we're so far ahead.

I agree, we're still very early to this but I think, like you, that it has a good chance of succeeding. It really does come down to incentives. And it always does.
If people can freely create the content they like, provide the value they want, and create an audience that can easily zap them because they find it valuable? Well, I think it's going to ultimately draw more and more people into Nostr.
I think the question now becomes, how do we make sure it is not corrupted? Will the current incentives be enough?
True, most lightning wallets are working on integrations I believe, so you'll soon be able to just zap with your phone by scanning QR from WalletOfSatoshi or Muun or whatever.
