One of the things I’ve been working on (and hella stressed over) that exists outside of the internet (this place does exist, I have seen it! It has happened to me!) is getting more lighting console operation time in. I had a chance to work with Dropkick Murphys, and while I was out there I asked their LD some questions.
His show file is a punt page, meaning he operates the console on the fly. There were some cues he had written but for the most part, he was feeling that shit. Long story short, I liked the way he looked while running, and I attempted an earnest college try of recreating a show file in the spirit of is.
That was a great call. It might be flashy. It might just be one or two looks repeated over and over in the programming. The biggest difference between the spirit of his show file and what I had originally is there’s damn near no sauce to get lost in. Dare I say….
I even had some fun?
It’s cool, you can operate to music you’ve never heard before if you can keep a beat. I’m very glad for this chance encounter with the Dropkicks. I feel more ready than I have in the past for what next year might throw down. Definitely have used lighting consoles before, but it was never my strong suit, “pull copper, get donut” is what I’m good at. Skills grow tho. It should be a pretty exciting year next year.
Maybe is just a baby in need of nurturing into a yes
When you’re working with protocols this hot, you’re bound to encounter a build up of slags.

nostr:npub1v95n3s2z3gjcvsv3kf4nhqq7p7vkphepsrez5j6q5suncxztt6esd46gnv do you have any plans on January 12th and would you still be interested in a live streamed performance?
January 12th 4pm cst. I’ve sent a lot of invites, haven’t heard much from most yet. It’s first come first serve so if you hit me with a yes, that’s all I need to know.
However you wanna deliver it! All we do is capture what you put out (wink wink nudge nudge), meaning you could use crazy video switching, lighting, color effects. It’s your set to do as thou will!
A deeply biased and personal favorite
Set up a livestream with audio and video, and have a set of 20-25 minutes ready to rock when you receive the go. We act as the conduit/switcher for the show, meaning we broadcast your live stream thru the rss feed for the Satellite Skirmish. People watching can then boost from a number of apps, some split the payment through the entirety of the production, others can switch between the wallets of whoever is playing, or there is liveislit.com which you already saw that allows anyone at any point to boost a band.
We're always looking for performers for the Satellite Skirmish, please consider joining us for one!
Of course, my next question for you is do you by chance play music live?
That was the fastest b4ts prep ever, including figuring the art out. Value abounds in mysterious ways.
