What if the responses you talking about was and are the preparations from different spots of power to the meta-crisis?
We are at a unique point in human history where different underlying problems of our human behaviour collide and merge and will stop the system as we know it
If we continue running a linear materials economy on a finite planet where our financial system requires exponentiell growth does terminate.
We had these societal collapses in the past, it's just the first time we doing that in a global economy with 6 continent supply chains where we can not even produce a pen in one country alone.
Same time we reaching all different kind of planetary boundaries that will prevent us from continue on the path we are in.
Same time the unipolar world with a free market that did bind the multipolar traps by promising us better lives through trade are breaking down.
After 2008 i did try to learn a lot, and the financial system is a big part and in my thinking was the driver of the underlying problems. 3-4 years ago for myself i did start seeing our problem is much bigger and the solution space of human society in this world is finite and most would require radical shift in human consciousness.
Most of us are running around in a dead men walking scenario, feeding and driving the human superorganism that will inevitably terminate, probably in the life time from most of us alive.
You can make a pretty good case the 1970 oil crisis was never over, the fiat money printing is a symptom.... not the problem.
The problem is connected with overconsumption and our process of problem solving in a very narrow scope.
Albert Einstein said.... if i want to solve a problem, i spend 95% of my time in understanding the problem and the rest for the solution.
You see so much people (Bitcoiner included) running around with solutions for a problem with too narrow scope.

For context, the US consumed 100,000 petajoules of energy in 2021.
