Of course, the day I come back, #Fosstodon gets into trouble with #Fedora project. FFS. Internet socialization is made of drama sometimes. I wonder if I'll have to move again.
I'd be interested in podcast recommendations from any of you who know me well enough to guess what I might like.
I was reading https://blog.thenewoil.org/prime-day-is-this-week-fdmg earlier today. I agree with him, but I think at this point it's no longer possible for me to do without Amazon. Even eBay doesn't have some things I need.

I sync my valuable data with my phone (using Syncthing). This is not optimal for security. But it's really nice for availability. If I'm fleeing a disaster (such as this nearby one: https://www.npr.org/2023/08/13/1193652301/explosion-destroys-structures-in-pennsylvania ), I just have to grab my phone and I lose no data that matters.

Is there any mitigation in place for this? Like, would the credentials not be accepted if coming from a different IP, something like that?
Of course the protections against XSS are valuable. But we can't assume there won't be more vulnerabilities in the future.

It's OK if you can't live your whole computing life from each of your general purpose devices. Some things can be relegated to specific computers. This lesson took me a long time to learn.
It appears to me that setting up #Syncthing grows quickly more cumbersome, the more machines there are in the cluster. I guess at some point, it makes more sense to have a homeserver instead.

What if I am verifiably made of organic matter? Is there a way to speed it up for my not-exposed-to-the-WWW desktop?
