Definitely.

That or just do not follow people that speak in languages you don't understand.

After some tuning from what probably was the first[1] message posted by SMS on Nostr, here is the code!

sms2nostr is a proof of concept of a sms-to-nostr gateway that permits a user to post notes on Nostr using non internet enabled phones and IoT devices, or feature phones when the network is not available.

https://github.com/dtonon/sms2nostr

Can be useful? Crazy and useless idea?

Beta live playground available!

If you want to try it right now feel free to DM me, I setup a USA number that can receive sms from all over the world.

This first test instance will be shared publicly as soon the code will be a little battled tested, follow me to keep yourself informed.

Special thanks to #[0] and #[1] for reminding me that Twitter was born with SMS support, so why not Nostr? :)

Where are the https://8333.mobi/ people that they're not seeing this? #[0]

I don't know how that firewall works. Can't you just connect to external relays from China?

If you do, then it will work. And as soon as one specific relay gets blocked on China apps should it make it easy for people to switch to other relays, or do that automatically.

Just share the note1... or nevent1... code and let them handle it their way. See NIP-19.

We eventually must get all apps to support the "nostr:..." scheme. See NIP-21.

I like the design choices, but it isn't looking too functional. And there is no contrast. Maybe it's my browser? Would be nice to watch a nice video demo.

I guess just that, yes. However I don't know if that works if there are replies in between. Maybe don't bother with this.

Is the idea that relays following this method will exclude stuff that is bad-voted voted and keep stuff that is good-voted? Are they supposed to apply some technique to pre-filter content that wasn't already voted based on who created that too?

If there is a relay dedicated to Marlon Brando fans then all posts by Marlon Brando will be scored highly there, but Marlon Brando does not use that relay, he doesn't even know about it, right? Am I into something here?

#[0] I have finally read your Blazepoint whitepaper. Do you still stand by its ideas and are going to bring them to fruition within Nostr?

If I got it right, the core thing you need there that isn't present in Nostr by default is that you'll have these relays that gather "votes" (reaction events?) from their users and use that to build clusters of interesting content, prioritizing these somehow. The details are not specified.

Twitter's big superpower was that it made people write short meaningful notes. A thread is a collection of short meaningful notes, not a giant piece of filler text splitted into many pieces (although some people do these, it is horrible).

Threads is much simpler and compatible to do. You can do them today.

There are some people working on a different event format that is designed for long-form content and is editable, but that should probably not be mixed in the Twitter-like feed views.

A barebones prototype of per-relay feeds on the https://github.com/kaiwolfram/Nozzle Android client from #[1]: https://i.imgur.com/6hKIkQ3.mp4

Some ideas from #[0] on how to display relay selection for feeds (and get users to acknowledge the existence of relays and get familiarized with them, which is crucial for Nostr decentralization):
