I appreciate the take — & I may take it one step further… the only ‘legitimate fix’ is within people’s own head.
You own yourself, no other human nor group can own you …even if they claim to because of some magical political process.
Even if the claim were true (it’s not)… is it moral to take the giant category of gun owners & initiate gun violence against them all?
Similarly, adult males are more likely to commit violent crimes. Would it be right to cage all adult males ages 18-40?

“I didn’t vote for this” seems to be a common response lately.
If you voted for another human to rule you & your neighbors, you got EXACTLY WHAT YOU VOTED FOR. 
At some point, resisting is better for self-preservation.
People just need to mentally wrap their heads around it.
