Changing your diet is hard. Eating habits are deeply ingrained in your culture, lifestyle, subconscious behaviors.
Gallbladder disease is not technically hereditary, but you normally see it run in families because families eat the same foods and pass on food habits.
What we make and eat on a daily basis is often just running on auto pilot. Taking stock of everything you eat in an average day, what and when exactly you eat can be pretty eye-opening.
It’s pretty easy for your “occasional treats” to start becoming occasionally every day. And then you wonder why you can’t lose weight.
A weak point for me was skipping meals because I was “too busy.” Skipping breakfast and just chugging a protein shake is totally fine every once in a blue moon, but when there’s a blue moon 4 times per week, it’s hard to wonder why you aren’t making progress.
Bringing the foods you eat off of autopilot and into focus can help you determine day by day whether you are making progress towards you goals or not.
At the end of the day you should have a good idea of everything you ate and when you ate it. You should be able to to tell whether or not that day put you closer or further from your goals and where to make adjustments for the next day.
MyFitnessPal and Cronometer are good free food tracking apps. I wouldn’t get too deep into the nitty gritty of macros and calorie counting, but rather focus hard on putting down every thing you eat throughout the day to see the eating patterns first. Focus on the details later.
